Hello Friends!
I want to share with you a card I made for my cousin Linda, Stephen, Andrew and Daniel who just moved into a new house.
For the card base I used a 5-1/2′ x 8-1/2″ piece of Not Quite Navy scored at 4-1/4″. Then I cut a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Pear Pizzazz. For the top layer I cut a 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Whisper White.
For this card I used a retired stamp set called, “Welcome Home.” I inked up the house stamp with my Stampin’ Up! Markers in Not Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip and Garden Green. For the fence I hand-cut pickets out of Crumb Cake Card Stock and glue it with my Tombow Glue.
On the Whisper White, I shaded with Bashful Blue Ink and a Sponge Dauber to form the clouds. I made cloud templates out of a piece of card stock by cutting small circles resembling cloud puffs as shown below. Yes, you have to hand cut these as a circle punch will not work because it will leave a concave form. These templates work as a mask except along the edges where I used a circular motion with my Dauber. The area underneath the template will remain the Whisper White. I randomly moved the template down and from side to side and repeated the circular motion technique along the edge. When I painted years ago sometimes I used stencils in a similar manner.
I computer generated, “Congratulations on Your New Home,” punched it out with the Small Oval Punch and layered it on a Not Quite Navy Scallop Oval. I assembled the card as shown and wrapped some of that gorgeous Cherry Cobbler Polka Dot Ribbon around it. I finished the card off with a bow. By the way, this ribbon makes great bows.
