Welcome Back Stampers and Paper-Artists!
The card I'm sharing with you today I love because of the tone on tone look. Very Vanilla Card Stock was used for the entire card, but because different textures were introduced, all the layers and embellishments show off really nicely. These paper flowers are all over the internet. I didn't invent the technique of making roses with punches, but this is my original card design using it.
This card was the Stamp A Stack Class's favorite; once it was made! Oh, sure my ladies loved the embossing part of the card, but let me tell you the whining while they cut, glued and put this gorgeous rose together was very, very amusing. Now, I have the best and most talented ladies in the world coming to my classes and I truly love them, but you would have thought I asked them to put the Eiffel Tower together with toothpicks! (to scale) We did share a lot of laughs and, in the end, their cards came out beautiful!
Here's what to do and remember, "NO WHINING ALLOWED!"____
Cut a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock and score it at 4-1/4"
Cut another piece of Very Vanilla at 5" x 3-3/4" and emboss it with the Stampin' Up! Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.
Punch 8 owls using the Two-Step Owl Punch. You only need to stamp the owl's body. These will be used for the outside petals. The first thing to do after punching out the owls is to cut their poor little feet off. Crumple each owl/petal and run your fingernail or Bone Folder over each owl. This helps to break down the card stock's fibers and will allow the petals to look more realistic. Then cut from the middle of the owl's head about 1/2" down. Dab a little Tombow Glue on one ear and layer it on the other cut ear to form one petal. Proceed in this manner to the other seven. Put them aside to dry.
Punch a 2-3/8" Scallop Circle and beginning on the edge cut the scallop circle in a spiral, rol lit and, glue the end. This will be the flower center.
Punch a 1-3/8" Circle out. Place some Tombow Glue over the 1-3/8" Circle and start layering five of your owl petals. For the second layer glue the last three petals, and in the middle glue your scallop spiral flower center.

To finish the card, wrap a piece of Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon. With another piece of Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, make two loops and wrap the two loops with one of the brads from the Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware Kit.
Put all the card pieces together as shown in the first photo.
The simplicity of this card would work with any one color you choose to use. Have fun experimenting with the color of choice and changing the embossing folder.
