Fifth Avenue Floral: Zentangle Card…

Breast Cancer Ribbon ButtonThis technique I’ve wanted to teach in a class for a long time and at my World Card Making Event I introduced the class to one card using the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set.

Zentangle is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repeating patterns. It’s a form of doodling. Who doesn’t like to doodle? Zentangle isn’t only fun, it’s also relaxing and addictive. It increases creativity and use very simple materials, such as pen and paper. I chose the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set, because the rose image is a big outlined image with many small areas to doodle in.

Fifthe Avenue Floral Zentangle Detail

For this card I began by stamping the large rose from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set in Black Stazon Ink. I then cut the image out and began filling in each area with my Stampin’ Up! Black Marker. I used the small tip to create sm al repeating patterns until the rose was filled in.

I then adhered the rose to a piece of Basic Black card stock and cut the rose out again leaving a small black border so when placed on the Regal Rose it would pop.

Take the Scallop Edged piece of  Whisper White card stock and adhere it to the Regal Rose along the 3-1/2″ side.

Wrap the piece of Black Polka Dot Ribbon around the Regal Rose near the scallop edge.

Layer the Regal Rose on the Basic Black card stock and in the bottom left hand corner place three Black Brads.

Adhere this layer on to the Whisper White card base.

With the Bird Builder Punch, punch out three of the leaves and stems. Adhere the rose with Dimensionals and place the stems underneath the rose in a pleasing manner.

Alyssa’s Sweet 16 Invitation…

This is another invitation I did for my niece Alyssa’s Sweet 16.  For her party she is doing a Shakespearean theme and wanted a rose, scroll and quote.

I stamped on Glossy White Card Stock the rose from the  Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp Set in Versa Mark and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  Using my Aqua Painter, Real Red Ink and Watercolor Pencils, I hand colored the rose. I then cut it out and adhered it using a few  Dimensionals. The scroll and type were computer generated and printed out on parchment paper. I tore each scroll to really exaggerate a rough edge.  The card itself was out of an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Real Red Card Stock scored at 4 1/4″. I layered a 5 x 3 3/4″ piece of Pretty in Pink Card Stock over the Real Red and the rest of the embellishments as shown

Fifth Avenue Mother’s Day Card

Fifth Avenue Mother's Day Card 5-17-09

While many of these of these colored roses from the FIFTH AVENUE FLORAL STAMPIN’ UP! stamp set are floating on the internet, this is my own version.

For this card I cut the VERY VANILLA CARD STOCK  7″ x 10″ and scored it at 5″ to create a 5″ x 7″ card. I wanted the size to be more impressive to give to my mother and mother-in-law. I, did however, switch up the colors for each of them. They loved them!

Stamp Sets: Fifth Avenue, Bloomin’ With Love

Ink: Chocolate Chip,  Old Olive, Regal Rose

Paper: Very Vanilla 7″ x 10″, scored at 5″, Regal Rose 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″, Blush Blossom 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4″

Accessories: Hodgepodge Vanilla Hardware, Big Shot Sizzlet “Little Leaves” Die, Stampin’ Pastels,  Designer Label Punch, Diminsionals, Old Olive  5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon

  1. First cut a piece of VERY VANILLA CARD STOCK  7′ x 10″ and score at 5″.
  2. Cut a piece of REGAL ROSE CARD STOCK at 4 1/2″ x 6-1/2″.
  3. Cut a piece of BLUSH BLOSSOM CARD STOCK at 4 1/4″ x 6 1/4″.
  4. Stamp the BLUSH BLOSSOM with the smallest flower image from FIFTH AVENUE FLORAL with REGAL ROSE CLASSIC INK randomly.
  5. Stamp the large rose from the set onto  a scrap piece of VERY VANILLA CARD STOCK, cut out  and color using  Stampin’ Up! PASTELS.
  6. I used the pastels dark on the bottom of each petal and pulled  the color. toward the petal edges so that the  edges are the lightest.
  7. Using “THE BIG SHOT” and the SIZZLET “LITTLE LEAVES” DIE, cut out four leaves. I cut two out  of CERTAINLY CELERY and two out of OLD OLIVE.
  8. For the greeting I used the, “For you on Mother’s Day” from the BLOOMIN’ with LOVE stamp set.  You can use any saying that will fit in the DESIGNER LABEL PUNCH.
  9. Using the DESIGNER LABEL PUNCH, punch out your greeting and with a 4″piece of OLD OLIVE  5/8″ GROSGRAIN RIBBON layer the card as shown above.
