Stampin’ Up!: Dapper Dad Birthday Card

I don’t know about you, but I’m always on the look-out for great masculine stamp sets. Stampin’ Up!’s Dapper Dad Stamp Set is not only masculine, but has fun images with fun patterns such as argyle and hounds-tooth!  Love to use this set with the new Stampin’ Up! color Smokey Slate.  See if you don’t agree??

Card base is a piece of 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2” scored at 4-1/4″  The Smokey Slate layer measures 5″ x 3-3/4″ and is DRY EMBOSSED* with the Stampin’ Up! Chevron Embossing Folder. The Basic Black label was cut using the Apothecary Accents Framelits and HEAT EMBOSSED* with the Happy Birthday greeting with White Embossing Powder. The great patterned shoe was stamped in Smokey Slate Ink on Whisper White Card Stock and hand-cut. I love the Smokey Slate, because it’s a neutral, and coordinates with a wide range of colors from Pink Pirouette to Basic Black.

*EXPLAINING EMBOSSING:

DRY EMBOSSING: Dry embossing is simply placing a texture or embossing folder through a die cutting machine such as The BIG Shot or similar.  Dry embossing creates a raised surface on the card stock or paper.

HEAT EMBOSSING: Heat embossing is when an image is stamped using VersaMark or pigment ink, then before the ink is dry, embossing powder is poured over the image and it’s heated until the embossing powder is melted into a raised glossy finish.
