It has been a long while, but now I’m back. Still working out of boxes, but managing to do cards and projects. Today’s post is on a Baby Shower we went to over the weekend. The “Hippo” card was the invitation I created, along with the baby card and I just had to share the Ooo Baby, Ooo Baby blanket I crocheted. Don’t ask me how I managed to finish it, but I did. It’s a miracle… I’m sorry these aren’t the best photographs, because they were taken with my phone and not my camera, but hopefully you’ll get the gist of it.
Jill’s Baby Invitation:
Because we don’t know the sex of the baby, I started with three colors in mind-Smokey Slate Whisper White and Daffodil Delight. I computer generated the type and printed it out on my home computer. This invitation is a post card or single layer card.
The base of Whisper White was cut to 5″ x 7″.
The Smokey Slate Designer Series Paper is 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″
Daffodil Delight was cut to 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4″
The top Whisper White layer is 4″ x 6″ This is the layer the type is on
Jill loves Hippopotami hence the hippo. I sketched an outline of a hippopotamus onto a piece of a manila file folder, cut it out and used it as a template to trace around. Each hippo was traced and hand-cut. I used Smokey Slate Cardstock.
For the details, I punched a 1/4″ Circle for the cheek and two 1/8″ Circles for the ears out of the retired Pretty-in-Pink Cardstock. For the eye another 1/8″ Circle was punched from Basic Black Cardstock.
I stamped the bird in Basic Black, because birds and hippo’s seem to go together and glued a piece of Daffodil Delight ribbon around the hippo’s neck. Each card was the layered and adhered together as shown.
Here’s the shower card I made:
And, here’s the Ooo baby, Ooo baby blanket I crocheted:
Next week I’ll start sharing all the Christmas projects I’ve been working on, so check back often.
Embrace the day,
