Stampin’ Up! asked all us demonstrators to make a Birthday Card for Shelli, the founder and owner of Stampin’ Up! I know Shelli likes the Shabby-Chic look and after many drafts this is what I came up with.
This card base id made form Early Espresso card stock cut to 10″ x 7″ and scored at 5″. The next Tangerine Tango layer is 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″. The 4-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Very Vanilla was stamped with the bee from the Nature walk stamp set in Crumb Cake Ink and the edges were distressed with a sponge and the same color ink.
On a scrap piece of Very Vanilla I stamped randomly the bird from the Nature Walk stamp set and the Young Vermillion stamp. Then colored the birds in with Watercolor Pencils and tore the edges into a some-what oval shape. I colored the sky in with a Sponge Dauber and Baja Breeze Ink. Along the edge I spnged some Crumb Cake Ink. I layered the oval on to a piece of Early Espresso and then tore that edge as well.
Once everything in the oval was colored and adhered I proceeded to add amber beads to the branch under the Vermillion.
Vermilion’s are really bright orange and black. I used purple for the wings, so the detail of the stamped wings wasn’t lost. Here’s a picture of a real Vermillion. Truly exquisite!
I added three Antique Brads to the upper right hand corner, stamped Happy Birthday in Early Espresso on Tangerine Tango and distressed and curled it.
Across the bottom, I took 9″ piece of Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon and rouched or ruched it. For extra added detail I added beadwork to the top. For how to rouch or ruch ribbon CLICK HERE.
