How to Make: Chevrons (Rick Rack)

How many times have you wanted to add Chevrons or Rick Rack to a project only to find making them was nearly impossible? Well, here’s a simple way to make a chevron or rick rack strip to embellish your cards or projects. With Easter approaching these strips are perfect to add to your egg cards and projects!

Chevron Easter Card

For an egg card, measure the size of the oval die you want to use and adjust the length of the strip accordingly. For this egg card I used the 3″ Oval Die.

1. To make this card cut a 1” x 3 ½” piece of All Abloom Designer Series Stack.  Score down the middle at ½”.  I found it easier to make a score line then cut a 1/2″ to either side of the score. You can also make the length or width of your strip any size to suit the project you’re working on.  For an A-2 card I would cut a 1″ x 5-1/2″ strip of card stock or DSP. Make your strip any size and adjust it accordingly!

2. Turn the paper and score every ½” across the 3-1/2″ side.

3. Cut the card stock from the bottom corner to the middle score line, removing triangle shapes along the 3-1/2″ length of the paper. Do this top and bottom. See the diagram for a better understanding.

These chevron strips work perfectly with the All Abloom Paper Stack or any other. Check back later in the week to see what else these Designer Series Paper Stacks work well with.
