My Mother Alice

May 20, 1929-August 29, 2013

My mother passed away yesterday and when I was going through some photographs I found this picture of her at one of my workshops. She loved to make cards and especially liked to color the stamped images in. Just wanted to share with you how important the creative process is at any age. My mother is missed, but I find comfort, peace and gratitude that she was my mother and such a big part of who I am today.  Hold on fast to those you love and have in your lives…

Merry Christmas from the Lakeside Stamper

Wishing you all a Christmas filled with Hope, Peace and Joy.

May you all know the true meaning of Christmas as you celebrate the day with family, friends and remembered loved ones. Say a pray for all who are trying to move forward from the tragedies of Sandy Hook and hug your children a little tighter

Wedding Cake Topper

Hi, everyone!

Todays post has little to do with stamping.  In fact it has nothing to do with stamping at all!  I hope you don’t mind me sharing the wedding cake topper I made for my daughter Meg and son-in-laws wedding.

Wedding Cake Topper

This is the wedding cake topper I made for the wedding. Meg looked around for a vintage cake topper, but none appealed to her or John.  She asked me to make her something with a vintage feel.

Believe it or not I started with a scalloped plastic candy cup. I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch two holes on each side and I simply threaded a pipe cleaner through each hole for the handle. I wrapped the handle with string pearls I had and began decorating the basket with small blue and white flower. I placed two doves in the basket and embellished it with Basic Pearls and a Whisper White Satin bow.

For Meg and John it’s exactly what they wanted!

Thanks for stopping by and if you haven’t signed up for my 12 Weeks of Christmas please do. It’s FREE. Just go go the the Welcome Basket, on my sidebar, to begin receiving Christmas Project Ideas next week!

Meg & John’s Wedding Ceremony!!!

What can I say, except, "I'm sorry I've been MIA!"  I have to tell you it's for a good reason indeed.  Besides planning to rebuild a house, since my last post I've planned and held a small wedding for my daughter Meg and my new son John Miller.

On Friday, September 14, 2012, Meg and John were married in a small ceremony in front of brothers, sisters, godparents and grandparents. Their hope is to re-new their vows next year in a bigger celebration with family and friends.

And. yes Meg and John are expecting a baby boy in November. I guess that will make me a grandmother!

I am constantly reminded since our house fire that, "When it is dark enough, you can see the stars.”
Hoping you're all stampin'  I'm off now to write my September Newsletter. If you would like to receive it make sure you sign-up for it in my sidebar.

House Fire

Dear Readers,

When I write my posts for my blog, I never know how much personal information I should share with you. This bit of information I feel you need to know about, because it affects my blog and suppling you with the projects and information you want and deserve. This post I write with a heavy heart…

On Tuesday we had a house fire. It destroyed our home. Everyone is safe and for that I'm, oh, so thankful, but it's still devastating. I'm writing this post from my daughter's house. I wanted to let you know, because I don't know when I'm going to be able to design any new projects to post about. I do have some drafts ready and I'll post those next week.

I am forever grateful to my family and my dearest friends who have all been here in body and spirit. Today, one friend in contracting provided his crew to board up windows and throw a tarp over the roof. Thanks Kevin. Two other friends and my husband emptied all the damaged items and debris in our home. Thanks Todd and Rudy. One other friend went to Walmart to get us all the necessary incidentals we need. Thanks Nancy. My cousins Linda and Steve, Aunt Alice and Uncle Dave brought us food, blankets, and much need moral support and money.  Linda called the Red Cross and they were here as well. Thank you. Ellen, thank you, thank you, thank you! My other dear friend Marisa told her boss about our situation and he donated two dumpsters and when Marisa called the dumpster company, they threw in another dumpster. And, my daughter Megan spent all day washing our salvageable clothes. Dawn and Charlie who did much for my soul and spirit.  Everyone's calls and text messages have all given me strength and I am truly grateful to all of you. I want to thank my husband John, who has been a tower of strength and comfort for me.

Here's a video, if you care to view the fire.

This world is filled with unselfish people, who, genuinely care for others. In that respect I am the luckiest person in the world. Please pray for us.

With a thankful heart,
