Nancy’s Calypso Coral Birthday Card…

Nancy the card-maker

Nancy is the featured artist for today. Nancy has bee attending my classes since the beginning and is a very talented and dedicated card-maker. Here's one of Nancy's cards:

Nancy' Card

Nancy chose the 2011-12 In-Color Calypso Coral as the predominant color for this birthday card.  For the background, Nancy stamped in Calypso Coral Ink the Print Pattern background. She made distressed flowers by following these directions, but Nancy varied the size punches she used and placed a Designer Printed Brad in the flower center. The Happy Birthday Greeting was stamped on to a Whisper White Oval and that was layered on a Calypso Coral Scallop Oval. The stem and leaves, no sure what stamp set it's from, was stamped in Garden Green Ink.

Nice job indeed Nancy! Thanks for sharing.

Hello, Doily Birthday Card…

Hello, Lakeside Stamper Readers!

It's been a bit quiet on my blog, because I'm working behind the scenes on my class schedule and projects, my Etsy store and newsletter. Although I feel a bit laid back during these lazy days of summer,  have no fear there will be plenty of posts in the near future.

Today, I'm featuring a guest stamper, my sister-in-law Diane. This is a card Diane made for her boss Linda's birthday. I have to say it's quite lovely. Yellow and purple is one of my favorite color combinations, so much so, I have a huge garden in these two colors.

Diane's Hello, Doily Birthday Card

For this card Diane used the brand new Stampin' Up! stamp, Hello, Doily #122845.  On a piece of Whisper White, Diane stamped the doily image in Summer Sun Ink (retired). Across the bottom, in Basic Black Ink,  a happy birthday message was stamped.  The left side of the Whisper White layer was punched with the Eyelet Border Punch #119853. A piece of Basic Black Card Stock was layered underneath and was edged using the Eyelet Border Punch once again. The Basic Black Card Stock layer really pops the stamped Whisper White layer and by using the Eyelet Border punch Diane mirrored the edge of the doily. Perfect!

Diane's Hello, Doily Birthday Card Detail

The corner flowers are Stampin' Up!'s Paper Daisies #119243 which Diane dyed. How you might ask?? Diane simply took her Stampin' Spots and rubbed them over the daisies. The leaves were made from cutting up a sheet of Designer Series Paper.

All the layers were adhered on to a Summer Sun Card base and embellished with Circle Ice Rhinestones #109111.

Diane had a vision for this card and through a creative process made her vision happen, with no help from me I might add.

If you would like to be a featured stamper, simply attach a photo of your card or project and EMAIL IT TO ME. And, once again if you haven't signed up for my newsletter, do so before you miss out on August!

Color Theory Tip: Why These Colors Work Well Together…

Color Wheel These colors work very well together, because they're complementary colors. Complementary colors are any two colors which are directly opposite each other, such as red and green and red-purple and yellow-green. These opposing colors create maximum contrast and maximum stability.

Thanks for stopping by and please send me some of your stampin' projects!

Hugs as usual,
