Cookie Swap: Recipe Card…

During the holidays many of us have cookie swaps; where each of us make a dozen cookies for everyone attending the swap. Part of the swap is giving the recipe for the cookies you baked. A nice added touch is to type out the recipe on your computer and adhere the recipe on a pretty, hand-stamped flat card. Here’s a sample of one. Of course you can use any stamp set and any color combination. Punch a hole in one corner, insert an eyelet and loop a pretty piece of ribbon through it. These are a gift in itself…

Punch Santa: Pillow Box

This Punch Santa Pillow Box was offered and made at my Extravaganza Holiday Workshop.  The Santa decoration was made from punches and can easily become an ornament by simply adding a Baker’s Twine or 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon hanger. I saw this Santa on the web and changed him up a bit by using Stampin’ Up!’s Glitter Papers, adding hair curls, cheeks and Embossing his beard. You’ll want to make lots of these to use as holiday table favors, for gift cards or that perfect little piece of jewelry, such as a pair of earrings, necklace or bracelet.

Punch Santa Pillow Box

For the Punch Santa you’ll need to punch the following: (Note, my photo shows two circles in Real Red. Initially I wanted Santa to have a red nose, but changed my mind. After all it is a woman’s prerogative!)

Punch Santa Parts

1 Ornament Punch in Red Glimmer Paper

1 Extra-Large Oval Punch in Silver Glimmer Paper

1 Red Pom-Pom

1 Large Oval Punch in Blushing Bride

1 Middle Circle from the Owl Builder Punch in Blushing Bride (Nose)

2 Middle Circle from the Owl Builder Punch in Basic Black (Eyes)

2 1/2″ Circles in Rose Red Card Stock (Cheeks)

2 Wings from the Bird Builder Punch in Whisper White (Mustache)

1 Ornament Punch out in Whisper White

Small strips of Whisper White (Curly Hair Strands)

Run the mustache parts and beard through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder for texture.

Glue all the parts together with Tombow All-Purpose Glue. Use the photo above as a guide.

For Santa’s Pom-Pom use a Glue Dot to adhere it to the hat.

Cut a Garden Green Pillow Box, or similar sized box, with the Big Shot.

Once cut, run the Garden Green Pillow Box through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder or one of your choice.

Cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Scallop Dots Ribbon to wrap around your box. Cut enough so ribbon overlaps a bit. Wait to wrap the box with the ribbon, until your box is filled.

Attach Santa to the ribbon with Dimensionals.

Bright Hopes: Double Z-Fold Card…

I love folded cards. With a few score lines and folds a card seems to be magically transformed. Here’s a Double Z-Fold Card we made at one of my workshops. The hardest measurements were foe the belly band that goes around the card. The band needed to be slightly larger then what I thought it had to be, but after several tries I figured it out. You can take this technqiue and again make it your own, by your color and stamp image choices. The trick here is to have fun and stand back and Ooh and Ahh over it when you’re done.

Bright Hopes Z-Fold Card

To make this impressive looking card do the following:

Double Z-Fold Card

1.    Cut a 12″ x 4″ piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock and score it at 2″ 4″ 8″ and 10″. See diagram.

2.    Fold from the 4″ score line in and from the 2″ score line out. Then fold from the 8″ line in and the 10″ line out.

3.    Cut two 1-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ pieces of Very Vanilla card stock for the side panels.

4.    To layer on the Very Vanilla, cut two 1-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ of Holly Berry Blossom Designer Series Paper.

5. For the belly band cut an 8-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock. Score the band at 2-1/8″x 6-1/8″. Take it from me the 1/8 of an inch matters!

6.    For the front diamond cut a 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla and stamp the wreath from the Bright Hopes stamp set with VersaMark, sprinkle it with Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder and heat it with a Heat Tool.

7.    Cut a 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ piece of Wild Wasabi to mat the Very Vanilla stamped image.

8.    For the inside middle panel cut  a 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla.

When you’re all done this is what you should have:

Before taping the belly band with SNAIL Adhesive, wrap it around the card first, then tape it. Place the diamond (square) shape on with a Dimensional. Place  Basic Rhinestones around and in the middle of the wreath motif.

I’m so glad you decided to stop by today.

Two Tags: Sweet Season Basket…

Hi, Stampers!

Here’s a great little Sweet Season Basket to make just in time for the holidays. This basket can be used for a table favor, small gift, gift-card holder or even filled with cookies made from  Stampin’ Up!’s Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps  Wait until you see how easy this basket is to make.

Sweet Season Basket

1.    With the Big Shot and the Two Tags Die, cut out two of the wide tags. I cut mine out of Real Red, but depending on what holiday or party you’re intending to use them for, will dictate your color choice.

Sweet Season Basket Sides

2.    Cut two 2″ x 2-7/8″ pieces of matching card stock.  Along the edges shown, score on both sides, of both card stock pieces.

3.    Place Sticky Tape on each 1/2″ scored flap and attach  to each side of the tags.

4.    With Sticky Tape, adhere bottom together where the tags are scored.

5.    For the handle cut a 1″ x 6-1/2″ strip of card stock and a 3/4″ x 6-1/2″ piece of Designer Series Paper. Adhere the Designer Series Paper to the strip of card stock and stick each handle end thrgou the slots on the tags. Place a Glue Dot on each inside end to hold in place.

6.    On a piece of Whisper White card stock, stamp two motifs from the Sweet Season stamp set in a matching ink color to the card stock. I used Real Red Ink. Punch out both motifs with the 1-3/4″ Scallp Circle Punch.

7.    Punch two 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle out of a contrasting color card stock. I used Garden Green.

Snow Much Fun Homespun…

Snow Much Fun Header

I have to truly say I’m loving this Stampin’ Up! Snow Much Fun stamp set. Last week I featured the tall snowman on a card and today I’m using the “Portly” snowman to create a country homespun feel. Just by changing colors you can create a totally different feeling to your projects. Keep that in mind and with the economy the way it is, it’s nice to know that one stamp set will go a long way.

Beautiful Season Victorian Christmas Stocking…

We all know the holidays are approaching. Every year it seems like we have plenty of time and then Christmas and Hanukkah sneak up on us. Here’s an early Christmas project that can be used for Hanukkah as well, by simply changing up the color scheme. These are perfect for gift cards, jewelry or treats. You can even make one for your pet!

Beautiful Season Victorian Stocking

Beautiful Season Victorian Stocking Pieces This Victorian Stocking was made using the Big Shot and the new Holiday Stocking Die in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Cut the following:

x2    Cherry Cobbler Stockings

x2    Very Vanilla Stocking tops

x1    Holly Berry Deaigner Series Paper toe part

x1    Garden Green Stocking top

Once the Stocking parts aer cut, you could run them through your favorite Embossing Folder. Mine is sans embossing, because I was in such a rush to finish, I forgot this step. Art shouldn’t be rushed!

Beautiful Season Victorian Stocking Scallop Detail

Because the Garden Green Stocking top has a curved edge, if you run the Scallop Edge Punch along the edge, you’ll get a natural curved scallop edge as shown here.

Beautiful Season Victorian Stocking Message Detail

On one piece of Very Vanilla stamp, “Merry Christmas” from the Christmas Lodge stamp set in Black Stazon Ink. Color in the “C” with a Cherry Cobbler Marker.

Beautiful Season Added Scallop

Hand color the image to resemble a Chickadee, holly and berries with Stampin’ Up! Markers or Watercolor Pencils.

Merry Christmas One & All!

Dear Lakeside Stamper Friends,

As we move forward to 2011 I hope you celebrate each day and may Christmas refresh your spirit and the New Year bring you new inspiration.
