HAPPY, HAPPY NEW YEAR again!! What better way to start off the new year and first workshop of the new year then with a 2015 easel calendar? It’s perfect to display on any counter or desk! This was a fun project we made at my workshop on Saturday. We had so much fun and as I watched everyone lost in making their projects it filled my heart to see them all working and not thinking about their problems. Crafting has a way of clearing our heads and allows us to really live in the moment.  THANK YOU for the continued support and friendships.  You can purchase these small calendars at various sites or print out a calendar on your home printer. I purchased mine at http://www.skybluepink.com Christine has a lot of fun, little embellishment and such.

Easel Calendar 2015

To make this easel calendar card cut the following:

FOR CALENDAR:

13.  Cut a 3-1/4″ x 2-5/8″ piece of Hello Honey

Countdown to Christmas-Advent Calendar…

This is an Advent Calendar I designed and have wanted to do for about a year now. While it’s a time consuming project it’s not diificult to do. I used as many stamp sets I had for the images behind each window. Some images were embossed, hand colored and even partial images were used. I just had fun with it. This would be a great project to do this weekend and even have the kids help out with the stamping. The small windows range from numbers 1 to 23. I need to add number 24 to the oval window. The door is number 25 with the Holy Family behind it.

DSC_0199

For the windows I stamped the tag image from the Stampin’ Up! Punch Pals Stamp Set in Versa Mark. I stamped 23 of them, one for each window. I then embossed them with White Embossing Powder. I scored along the left side of the tag, folded it and lined up the image with the Tag Punch so that the left edge was just to the inside of the punch. Doing it in this manner allowed the flap so that the windows could open up. For the inside images I simply stamped them, punched them out with the Tag Punch and adhered them to the flap. For the window and door numbers I used My Big Shot and a die similar to the Timeless Type.

DSC_0128

Here is the oval window detail. I stamped the saying from the Christmas Punch Stamp Set in Versa Mark and with White Embossing Powder I embossed it. I used the same technique as for the smaller windows. Along the left side of the oval I scored, folded and lined it up just to the inside of the Wide Oval Punch.

DSC_0127

Below shows some of the images I used behind the windows.

DSC_0166

DSC_0169

This is a detail of the Holy Family from the Stampin’ Up Holy Triptych Stamp Set, behind the door. I stamped it in Versa Mark Ink and Gold embossed it.I then hand colored the image in with a combination of Stampin’ Up Markers and Watercolor Pencils. On the Handsome Hunter door front I stamped and embossed the tree image from the Stampin’ Up! Snow Swirled Stamp Set.

DSC_0206

Here are the dimensions for the house parts of the Advent Calendar:

Pretty in Pink Card Stock  11-1/2″ x 7″

     Sage Green Card Stock 11-1/2″ x 4-3/4″

     Rose Red Card Stock 12″ x 12″

Handsome Hunter Green Card Stock 1-3/4″ x 3-1/4″

For the coins going up the sides:

     Soft Suede Card Stock 1/2″ x 3/4″

     Creamy Caramel Card Stock 1/2″ x 1/2″

For the piediment I hand cut a triangular shape and trimmed it out with the Scallop Edge and Eylet Border Punches.  I layered the Pretty in Pink Card Stock and Sage Green onto the Rose Red 12′ x 12′ sheet of card stock. I placed the coins up both sides of the house, adhered the scallop and eyelet edges to the piedement and plced that on the top. Then I adhered all of the windows and door to the house. I added a piece of Rose Red Grosgrain Ribbon to use as the hanger.

I really love the way this turned out and like very much the Rose Red, Sage Green and Pretty in Pink color combination. I tried to be as clear as possible on this project but if you have any questions you can email me at diane@lakesidestamper.com

Many thanks for stopping by and remember to take time out to hand make items to give as gifts this holiday season.  Gifts which are personalized and a part of you. Let’s try to remember the true meaning and not get caught up in the commercial end but, truly put ourselves into this most joyous of seasons. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

HUGS & stamps,

November Calendar:

For the November Calendar of course Giving Thanks and turkey came to mind. I tried to combine the two for this month. The  Season of Friendship and Voila Stamp Sets are so very versatile. See if you agree? Sorry about the "Hot Spot" under the chef but I think the Shimmer Ink caused it.

DSC_0109

RECIPE:

Paper:          2-1/4" x 7" Whisper White Card Stock

8" x 8" Crushed Curry Card Stock

8-1/2" x 8-1/2"  Whisper White Card Stock

Stamp Sets:        Voila

              Voila Accessories

Season of Friendship

The More, the Merrier (hostess set)

Ink:                       Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Real Red, Dusty Durango, Chocolate Chip & Garden Green

Accessories:      Platinum Shimmer Ink, Aqua Painter, Scallop Oval & Wide Oval Punchs, Stampin' Dimensionals, Markers & Water-Color Pencils

Here's an enlargement:

DSC_0112
And here's what I did:

I took the piece of Whisper White Card Stock and stamped the top half of the chef from the Voila Stamp Set in Basic Black Ink.  I then stamped leaves from the Season of Friendship Stamp Set in Real Red, Crushed Curry, Garden Green and Dusty Durango Inks around the chef and the edge of the card stock. Of course I cleaned the stamp in between colors with my Stampin' Scrub.  On another small piece of Whisper White Card Stock I stamped the turkey  from the Voils Accessories Stamp Set in Basic Black Ink, colored it in with my Water-Color Pencils, cut it out and adhered it with 2 Stampin'  Dimensionals. The tray was colored with Platinum Shimmer Ink and an Aqua Painter. On yet another small piece of Whisper White Card Stock I stamped the greeting, "Give Thanks" from the Holiday Best Stamp Set in Chocolate Chip Ink and punched it out with the Scallop Oval Punch. I then punched out a Wide Oval out of Chocolate Chip Card Stock. I have to tell you I love the Holiday Best Stamp Set and have used it in so many projects. I layered the scallop oval onto the Chocolate Chip oval. I had these shiny leaf brads so I placed one through both ovals. Just a note here, the greeting is a tight squeeze for the scallop punch but it works as you can see. I layered everything as above and on Thanksgiving Day on the calendar I stamped the acorn from The More the Merrier Hostess Stamp Set and colored it in with my Stampin' Up Markers.

Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

September Calendar: Autumn’s Blessings

I know I'm a little behind in the calendar corner but I didn't get a chance until now to design September and as you will soon see October's calendar. Here is what we did at Friday's class. DSC_0105

And here's what I did:
I took the piece of Baja Breeze Card Stock and layered it with torn pieces of the Old Olive and Dusty Durango Card Stocks. Using Loads of Love and Loads of Love Accessories Stamp Sets I stamped the car on Crushed Curry Card Stock  and female driver on Whisper White Card Stock  in Basic Black Ink. I used the new Platinum Shimmer Ink and an Aqua Painter and colored in the bumpers and hub-caps on the car. Using my Markers I colored in the female driver and cut both pieces out. I then  stamped the pumpkin and wheat vignette from the Happy Blessings Stamp Set in Basic Black Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock, colored them in with my Markers and cut both images out. Again using the Loads of Love Accessories Stamp Set I stamped the "happy harvest" greeting in Dusty Durango Ink on Whisper White Card Stock and punched it out with the Scallop Oval Punch. For the falling leaves I simply tore tiny pieces of Only Orange, Old Olive, Real Red and Crushed Curry Card Stocks. I layered everything as shown above.

Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY HARVEST!

August Calendar: Just Beachy…

DSC_0448

I absolutely love the way the calendar for August came out. The class had fun encorporating all the elements to create this beach scene, The beach is close to my heart because for the last twenty-five years we have been going to Sunset Beach, NC. Many memories have been made down there and this year we are going in September. I can’t wait!

RECIPE:

Stamp Set:          Just Beachy

                                 Pocket Silhouettes

                                 Life’s a Breeze

Ink:                        Chocolate Chip

                                 Basic Black

                                 Green Galore

                                 Only Orange

                                 Versa Mark

Paper:                  Pacific Point  Card Stock (7′ x 1′)

                                 Creamy Caramel Card STock  (7″ x 1″) x2 strips

                                 Bashful Blue Card Stock (7″ x 2-1/4″)

                                 Summer Sun Card Stock  (8″ x 8″)

                                 Whisper White Card Stock (8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″)

                                 Only Orange Card Stock ( 7″ x 1/4″)

Accessories:     White Embossing Powder, Silver Brads, Dimensionals, Stampin’ Pastels, Markers

Here is a Close Up for you to refer to:

DSC_0448

I started by tearing the two strips of Creamy Caramel Card Stock strips to resemble sand. Then I dragged to torn edges through a Chocolate Chip Ink Pad and adhered the strips to the  (7″ x 2-1/4″) piece of Bashful Blue Card Stock. i also tore the strip of Pacific Point Card Stock to look like ocean waves and adhered the ocean strip to the bottom of the bottom of the Bashful Blue over the Creamy Caramel “Sand Like” strips.  Using Versa Mark I stamped the fish from the Just Beachy stamp set onto the Pacific Point, covered the stamped images with White Embossing Powder and heated them with a Heat Tool. I stamped images from the Pocket Silhouettes, Just Beachy and Life’s a Breeze stampe sets, colored them in with the Write Markers and cut them out. Before placing the images on the Bashful Blue Strip I colored in the sky to resemble a sunset with Stampin’ Pastels. To the woody car I added two silver brads to the wheels and used Dimensionals to adhere and pop the car.

Thanks for stopping by and may you have beautiful sunsets…
