Welcome!
Today’s share is one more “Winged” card. Don’t you just love this Butterfly Basics Stamp Set??? And with the Butterflies Thinlits; it’s a win win all around. I’ve been experimenting with square card designs. It’s interesting how a small change to cardstock dimensions and where you score can make all the difference. I love how the Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi bounce off of each other to give the card real movement. See what you think…
This card is another collage or mixed media looking card. This look is hot right now. Everywhere you look you see layer upon layer projects made from different papers, ribbons, stencils, images, stamps etc… It seems as though anything goes, but that’s not the case.
With these projects there has to be a balance and with so much going on you don’t want anything to compete. The way I focused on this is I varied the stamp image sizes and used different color inks. Some inks were stamped off before stamping on to the card. The star of the show though is the large butterfly and the Calypso Coral.
CARD~STOCK & CUTTING DIMENSIONS:
Calypso Coral: (8-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″), (4″ x 3-1/4″)
Whisper White: (4-1/4″ x 3-1/2″), (3-3/4″ x 3″), (4-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ for the inside)
If you would like a spot to hand write a note you can use a layer of Whisper White and Calypso Coral over the collaged layer inside the card.
INKING & STAMPING UP:
As you probably guessed by now, I’m loving this Butterfly Basics Stamp Set. There are 11 stamps; 8 images of butterflies, florals, a dashed border, a hexagon/honeycomb, an old postal cancellation and 3 greeting stamps.
For this card I used almost all of the images and inked them up in Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi and Baked Brown Sugar. I stamped the images randomly on the 4-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ (card inside) and the 3-3/4″ x 3″ (card outside) Whisper White pieces.
Since my score line was at 3-3/4″ and not in the center, the card opening is above where I stamped the, “Happy Birthday” in Calypso Coral. Precisely where I wanted it.
I then distressed around the edges with a Sponge Dauber and Wild Wasabi Ink.
FINISHING TOUCH:
All that was left to do was to adhere all the card layers together.
Don’t forget the new 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! catalog goes live tomorrow! Send me your orders and I’ll place them with mine!
Embrace the day!
