Here is a n exciting technique I think you’re all going to love. It was featured in my newsletter and many of you have emailed me for the directions once again. So, here’s it is again, how to crush flowers with the Big Shot.
This technique is perfect for you if you like the watercolor technique, but feel as though you haven’t mastered it. With one easy turn of your Big Shot and a handful of flowers you can achieve that watercolor look easily and quickly. While it is a bit messy, you’ll love the variety of results, because no two are ever alike. I’m using this birthday card I created for my mother whose birthday is May 20.
SUPPLIES NEEDED: (All Stampin’ Up! unless noted differently)
STAMPS: Something to Celebrate (121897)
INKS: Elegant Eggplant (105210), Wild Wasabi (109014)
PAPER: Rich Razzleberry Card Stock (115316), Certainly Celery Card Stock (105125), Elegant Eggplant Card Stock (105126), Water-Color Paper (105019)
Big Shot (113439), Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder (117335), Scallop Oval Frame Die (114521), Sponge Daubers (102892), 1/4-inch Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon (120930), 3/16-inch Corner Round Punch (119871), Paper Piercing Tool (116631), Mat Pack (105826), Two Concord Crush Glimmer Brads (121005), Wax Paper.A Handful of Flowers
1. On a piece of Water-Color Paper place a few flowers and leaves. You don’t need many because they will spread out as you roll it through your Big Shot.
2. Layer your Big Shot sandwich in the following way; Multi-Purpose Platform (which came with your Big Shot), a sheet of wax paper, Cutting Pad, another sheet of wax paper, Water-Color Paper with flowers on top, the last sheet of wax paper and then your other Cutting Pad. Simply turn the handle and run the sandwich through as you would for any other cutting project. The wax paper is used so that clean-up is easier.
3. Carefully peel off any flowers stuck to your sheet of Water-Color Paper and clean off any run-off on your Platform and Cutting Pads with a paper towel. Let the Water-Color Paper dry throughly. It might buckle and if this happens you can wet the other side, but adhesive usually holds it down.
4. Cut a 7″ x 10″ piece of Rich Razzleberry Card Stock and score it at 10″.
5. Cut a 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ piece of Certainly Celery Card Stock. With the 3/16″ Corner Round Punch, round each corner. Around the edges sponge on Wild Wasabi Ink with a Sponge Dauber.
6. Run a piece of Elegant Eggplant through the Big Shot with the Scallop Oval Frame. Use only the outer frame. With the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder emboss the frame.
7. Take the dry Water-Color Paper and line it up on the Scallop Oval Frame Die and run it through the Big Shot. Take the inside oval and place it in the Elegant Eggplant frame. Secure the back with a little tape.
8. Stamp the “Happy Birthday” in Elegant Eggplant Ink from the Something to Celebrate Stamp Set onto the Certainly Celery Card Stock.
9. Along each side of the “Happy Birthday” place two strips of the 1/4″ Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon.
10. On each end of the ribbon, pierce two holes and place a Concord Crush Glimmer Brad in each hole.
11. Layer card as shown in photo.
