White Christmas Tin Snowman Ornament

White Christmas Snowman Ornament Header
I’ve been working on these ornaments with miniature scenes in them and I’m loving making them. Last year I bought a box full of these wilton party favor tins on sale. At first I wanted to make them into games of some sort, which I’m still figuring out, but for now I decided to make some into ornaments. And, I’m finding out the sky’s the limit on creating these.

White Christmas Ornament Tin

As I mentioned, I purchased these small favor tins. They have a 2″  diameter and are 3/4″ high. They come with a lid with an acetate covering in the middle; perfect for show-casing a scenic ornament such as this one.

Lets get started on how these were made:

White Christmas Ornament Tin Hole

I had to first think about how to hang these White Christmas Snowman Ornaments. I got out my handy-dandy Crop-A-Dile and punched a hole very simply with this tool. Cut through “Like Butter” some would say.

I must have at least a centillion beads. In case you’re wondering that’s 1 followed by 303 zeroes!

I strung a few blue and silver beads on a bead pin and inserted the bead pin through the punched hole. On the tin’s inside back I placed a strip of Tear and Tape Adhesive, which held the pin in place.

Now for the fun part:

STAMPING:

I started by stamping many small images from various stamp sets on Whisper White card stock in Memento Black Ink. For example, the snowman is from the White Christmas stamp set and the house is from the Cozy Christmas stamp set. After stamping, I cut all the images out. Some images I used are from cut out Designer Series Paper as you’ll see in future posts.

It’s best to make these by stamping any small images onto Whisper White Card Stock and cut out the pieces. When you think you have enough stamped, colored and cut out images go ahead and play around with them.

PUNCHING:

I punched out one 2″ Circle from Night of Navy card stock and one from Whisper White.

On the Night of Navy circle I punched out stars with the Confetti Stars Punch.

I affixed the Whisper White circle to the back of the Night of Navy circle with Multi-Purpose Glue. Then both layers were adhered tot he inside back of the tin with more glue. These layers went right over the bead head pin securing it even further.

SETTING THE STAGE:

To make the snow scene-the stamped, cut-out house was adhered to the Night of Navy sky. For the snow cotton batting was glued on. The snowman was glued and stood on top of the batting. A glittery snowball was placed by the snowman. The snowball was cut from an artificial berry stem.

The lid was glued on and on the outside a Large Scallop Circle was punched from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and glued to the back.

A string of pearls was added around the ornament’s circumference for that added snowball appeal!

You still have time to makes these and if you have children they will love making these as well. Check back soon for another ornament idea.

Craft on!

Hugs,

Siggy-2
