Rose Wonder Birthday Card

rose-wonder-header

This Rose Wonder Stamp Set is so impressive. it’s hard to believe it’s a stamp. The size is so empowering and then the Rose Garden Thinlits just helps to add another dimension to your cards. This birthday card uses only the Rose Garden Thinlits and believe me it’s quite beautiful and easy to assemble.

The card base is a 10″ x 7″ piece of Whisper White scored at 5″

Cut a 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ piece of Soft Sky

Cut a 2″ x 6-3/4″ piece of Wild Wasabi (strip behind Soft Sky)

For die cutting:

Whisper White 5″ x 7″ for roses

Sweet Sugarplum 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ for back of rose

Wild Wasabi 3″ x 3″ leaves

Cut out the large rose and leaves outline from Whisper White using the Rose Garden Thinlits and the BIG Shot. Cut one more rose which will be cut and placed along the card edge.

Take the Thinlit die and use it to trace around the rose with a pencil on to the Sweet Sugarplum

Trace around the leaves on to the Wild Wasabi

Hand cut the Sweet Sugarplum and Wild Wasabi. These pieces will be layered behind the big rose cutout.

Stamp the “Happy Birthday” in Wild Wasabi Ink and cut it out with the Rose Garden Thinlit.

Adhere  the card layers and carefully with All-Purpose Glue, glue all the rose die cut out pieces.

If you don’t have this set, now would be a good time to order it, because of Sale-A-Bration.

Birthday Bouquet & The Hexagon Hive Die

Birthday Bouquet Header

Today’s post is dedicated to all of you who have bought the Hexagon Hive Thinlit and asked me how to use it beyond stamping. This card we made at my class and everyone was happy to see a new way to use this thinlit. It’s a simple technique and the results are stunning. See if you don’t agree?

Birthday Bouquet Card

CARD STOCK & CUTTING DIMENSIONS:

  1. The card base of Mint Macaron was cut at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″
  2. Whisper White- 5-1/4″ x 4″
  3. Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper- 5-1/4″ x 4″
  4. Blushing Bride- 8-1/2″ x 2-3/4″ (for stamping)

STAMPING:

  1. On the piece of Blushing Bride, stamp four flowers from the  Petite Petals stamp set in Mossy Meadow Ink. Leave room for the “Happy Birthday” message.
  2. On the other end of the Blushing Bride, stamp the “Happy Birthday” message from the Rose Wonder stamp set in Mossy Meadow.
  3. Using Mossy Meadow Ink again, stamp the label outline from the Rose Wonder stamp set over the “Happy Birthday” message. Make sure the message is in the middle of the label. Since this is a photopolymer stamp set the lining up is a cinch.

PUNCHES & DIES, Oh, My:

  1. With the Petite Petals Punch, punch out the four stamped petite flowers. Scrunch them up a bit.
  2. Using the BIG Shot and the label die from the Rose Garden Thinlit set, cut out the “Happy Birthday”  label.
  3. Run the piece of Whisper White card stock through the BIG Shot with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER:

  1. Adhere the Hexagon Hive cut out over the piece of the Birthday Bouquet DSP.  Guess what I used to adhere these together?? Yep, Multi-Purpose Glue!
  2. Attach these two layers to the card base.
  3. Attach the “Happy Birthday” label with Dimensionals in a place that’s pleasing to you.
  4. With dabs of glue or Glue Dots attach the Blushing Bride flowers.
  5. Add some bling using Rhinestones or Pearls.

3D Style Button "Tips"

My tip to you is to try and leave some of the solid honeycombs showing to break up the busy areas. The white gives your eyes a break from the busy background pattern and can actually pop the background more, because of the break there’s a greater contrast.

Try this technique using different Designer Series Papers, stamped backgrounds and holiday images.

Remember to make what you love and love what you make.

Craft on!

Embrace the day,

Siggy-2
