Stampin’ Up!: Sweet Threads Birthday Card for Lisa

Stampin' Up! Sweet Threads Card,Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon Loop bow

Hello and Hello!

Today I’d like to share a card I made for my Cousin Lisa. I love to do counted cross stitch and have been making samplers for a gazillion years! Well, maybe not a gazillion, but half a gazillion years anyway. When Stampin’ Up! came out with the Sweet Threads Bundle Set, I knew I had to have it. This bundle contains enough of printed cards, die cut pattern pieces, envelopes, needle, thread and dimensionals to create 8 cards.  The bundle also includes the Essentials Stamp Set, which coordinates with the Sweet Threads.  I adore this idea of creating cards with counted cross stitch. See if you don’t agree??

I began this card by, what else but, sewing up the counted cross stitch tulip. After I was finished I carefully cut around my stitches. I wanted the tulip to be the center of the die cut flower.

And, speaking of the die cut daisy shaped flower, here’s how I did that.  The card base is the card that came with the Sweet Threads Bundle. I cut a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Whisper White Card Stock to layer on top.  Then I ran this piece through my BIG Shot with the Floral Frames Framlits.  I place the daisy shaped die to the right side of the card stock and cut.  I then ran the same piece of Whisper White Card Stock through the BIG Shot again with the Needlepoint Embossing Folder.  I placed the folder on the bottom edge.

With the same die, I cut another daisy flower shape out of Primrose Petals Card Stock to lay inside as shown in photograph. I cut the larger shape then the smaller inside, because I wanted the base card to show through the middle.

For a finishing touch, I made, what I call a “Loop D Loop” bow out of 3/8″ Stitched Satin Primrose Petals Ribbon.  Really pretty!!
