This is the first of four projects we made at Friday Night’s Class. The class had the option of leaving each fan blade separate to use or give as a book-mark. These turned out wonderful and this fan can be made with almost any stamp set. Let me show you the finished project and how it’s done.
We first cut 10 blades from Vary Vanilla Card Stock. I pre-traced the blades, using a template I made. I also gave each attendee a template to use for future fans. You can simply make a template in really any shaped blade as long as it tapers on one end by hand-drawing it onto a piece of cardboard. Cut out the blade and use it to trace onto any Color Card Stock or Designer Series Paper you want I traced out 10 blades, one for the front and one for the back of each fan blade. The extra stiffness helps and the two pieces work as a good sandwich for the Scallop Circle. On each blade I did the following:
Blade 1. Stamped Elements of Style Stamp Set in Basic Black Craft Ink
Colored the image with Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Markers
Punched a 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle out of Regal Rose Card Stock
Sponged Regal Rose Ink with a Dauber along the blade’s edge
Blade 2: Stamped motif from Elements of Style in Old Olive Ink
Punched a 2-3/8″ Scallop CIrcle out of Old Olive Card Stock
Sponged Old Olive Ink on edges
Blade 3: Stamped Filigree Block (retired) in Baja Breeze Ink
Punched a 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle out of Baja Breeze Card Stock
Sponged Baja Breeze Ink on edges
Blade 4: Stamped motif from Friends 24/7 Stamp Set in Perfect Plum Ink
Punched a 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle out of Perfect Plum Card Stock

Blade 5: Stamped Serenity Toille Block Stamp (retired) in Basic Black Craft Ink
Colored the image with Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Markers
Punched a 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle out of Regal Rose Card Stock

I need to warn you when you stamp with your craft ink you need to really let it dry before you use markers to color it.
I then sandwiched a blank blade, 2-3/8″ scallop circle and the stamped blade together. Don’t worry if the blades don’t match up perfectly because you can trim them down a bit.
To put the fan together I punched a hole with my Crop-A-Dile on each tapered end of each blade. Then using an Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelet I joined all the blades to form a fan. The eyelet just held together all the blades.
Through the eyelet I placed a piece of Old Olive 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon with a slip knot. I think it’s called a slip knot. This is a picture of the knot I mean.
