Sunflowers were my father’s favorite flower. I suspect he loved them not only because they were Oscar Wilde’s favorite, but because of the shear joy they bring. They truly have the perfect name. When I saw the Sunflower Stamp in the new Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog, I knew I had to have it. This sunflower stamp is elegant and extravagantly detailed. The sunflower is carefully rendered and is reminiscent of a 19th century botanical illustration.
Now this is a BIG sunflower and if used on a card I wouldn’t suggest anything smaller then a 5″ x 5″ or 5″x 7″ cards base. I’m fascinated with botanicals and have water-colored many, so I decided to try something a lottle different with this stamp. This project was designed for my class, which I will be offering in September along with the Halloween Banner and Delicate Doilies Card previously posted.
These would be a nice present to make and give someone, but make sure you make one for yourself as well.
