August Calendar: Just Beachy…

I absolutely love the way the calendar for August came out. The class had fun encorporating all the elements to create this beach scene, The beach is close to my heart because for the last twenty-five years we have been going to Sunset Beach, NC. Many memories have been made down there and this year we are going in September. I can’t wait!

Stamp Set:          Just Beachy

                                 Pocket Silhouettes

                                 Life’s a Breeze

Ink:                        Chocolate Chip

                                 Basic Black

                                 Green Galore

                                 Only Orange

                                 Versa Mark

Paper:                  Pacific Point  Card Stock (7′ x 1′)

                                 Creamy Caramel Card STock  (7″ x 1″) x2 strips

                                 Bashful Blue Card Stock (7″ x 2-1/4″)

                                 Summer Sun Card Stock  (8″ x 8″)

                                 Whisper White Card Stock (8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″)

                                 Only Orange Card Stock ( 7″ x 1/4″)

Accessories:     White Embossing Powder, Silver Brads, Dimensionals, Stampin’ Pastels, Markers

Here is a Close Up for you to refer to:

I started by tearing the two strips of Creamy Caramel Card Stock strips to resemble sand. Then I dragged to torn edges through a Chocolate Chip Ink Pad and adhered the strips to the  (7″ x 2-1/4″) piece of Bashful Blue Card Stock. i also tore the strip of Pacific Point Card Stock to look like ocean waves and adhered the ocean strip to the bottom of the bottom of the Bashful Blue over the Creamy Caramel “Sand Like” strips.  Using Versa Mark I stamped the fish from the Just Beachy stamp set onto the Pacific Point, covered the stamped images with White Embossing Powder and heated them with a Heat Tool. I stamped images from the Pocket Silhouettes, Just Beachy and Life’s a Breeze stampe sets, colored them in with the Write Markers and cut them out. Before placing the images on the Bashful Blue Strip I colored in the sky to resemble a sunset with Stampin’ Pastels. To the woody car I added two silver brads to the wheels and used Dimensionals to adhere and pop the car.

Thanks for stopping by and may you have beautiful sunsets…

Summertime, Summertime, Sum, Sum, Summertime…

Here is the Summertime Quilt, as if the title wasn’t clear enough. There was so much I wanted to include for summer I found it hard to omit some images. I tried to capture what was dear to me; flip flops, morning glories (A story I will tell you about soon), flowers, summer fruits, BBQ’s,  flowers, honey bees and the 4th of July. I used Yo-Yo Yellow Card Stock for the background because it screams summer.

Below are some close ups of WHAT I DID:

For the title I used a piece Tempting Turquoise Card Stock and with Versa Mark I stamped the flip flops from the Just Beach Stamp Set. I covered the flip flops with White Embossing Powder and with a Heat Tool embossed the image. On a piece of Whisper White Card Stock I cut the word Summer using the Naturally Serif Decorative Strip and the Big Shot.  I then mounted the letters on the  Only Orange Card Stock strip. In the corner I placed an ice pop brad I had.

I stamped the Summer Soft, Morning Glory in Close to Cocoa Ink onto a piece of (3-3/4″ x 4″) Whisper White Card Stock, colored in the Morning Glory with Stampin’ Pastels and carefully tore around the image.  I adhered the image onto the (3-3/4″ x 4″) Bashful Blue Card Stock and added four eyelets, one in each corner.

For the next close up I stamped the flowers from the stamp set Upsy Daisy in Regal Rose Ink on the  (3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″) Blush Blossom Card Stock. I adhered the Blush Blossom stamped Card Stock onto the  (4′ x 3″) piece of Green Galore Card Stock, added a Certainly Celery Ribbon knot, two Photo Corners, a Green Galore Brad and a rhinestone .

I love the set, Just Buzzin’ By so of course I had to incorporate it into the quilt. For this I used the new In-Color Melon Mambo Card Stock and Ink. On the (3-1/2″ x 3″) Melon Mambo Card Stock I stamped the flower from the Just Buzzin’ By Stamp Set in Melon Mambo Ink and highlighted each flower with a Signo Gel Pen.  On a (3-1/2″ x 3″) piece of Whisper White  Card Stock I stamped the bee hive and bees from the Just Buzzin’ By stamp set, colored in the images with Stampin’ Pastels and Stampin’ Up Write Markers and cut the images out.  I used the Corner Rounder Punch on each corner, added a Whisper White Brads and put all the images together as shown below. I embellished the final piece with flowers and rhinestones. After all there would be no honey without flowers!

I tucked in other stamped images from the Tart & Tangy, A Flower for All Seasons and Only Ovals Stamp Sets. On the sunflowers from A Flower For All Seasons Stamp Set I added two small yellow pom-poms.  The rest of the quilt I embellished with brads and an American flag, (not Stampin’ Up).

Thanks for stopping by and if you haven’t already signed up to get up-dates on when I post, please do so now.

June Calendar: Thoughts of Father…

For the month of June we celebrate the men in our lives whether they are Fathers, Grandfathers, Husbands, Sons, Brothers, Son-in-laws or Uncles we honor them in June. This is not a complicated month to put together.

Stamp Sets:    Thoughts of Father

                               Itty-Bitty Buds

Inks:                   Basic Black

                               Baja Breeze

Paper:                Whisper White (8-1/2″x8-1/2″)  not needed if using the back of May

                               Basic Grey CS  (8″ x 8″)

                               Baja Breeze CS (7″ x 2-1/4″)

                               Basic Black CS scrap

Accessories:    Watercolor Pencils, Basic Black, 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon, 5 Silver Brads, Photo Corner Punch,  Glue Dots

On the Baja Breeze Card Stock I stamped a geometric looking flower from the Itty-Bitty stamp set. The geometric flower isn’t too feminine and just looks like a background once stamped. Then on the scrap piece of Whisper White Card Stock I stamped in Basic Black the car from Thoughts of Father. I colored the image in using Watercolor Pencils and cut it out. I put the Baja Breeze and calendar together, wrapped a 9″ piece of the Basic Black Ribbon around the seam using Glue Dots  and with another 3″ piece of ribbon I tied a knot. To the corners I added four Photo Corners and four brads. Using Snail adhesive I adhered the car in the center of the Baja Breeze. To May 21, “Father’s Day”, on the calendar, I stamped a small compass I had but, anything manly will do!
