June Calendar: Thoughts of Father…

For the month of June we celebrate the men in our lives whether they are Fathers, Grandfathers, Husbands, Sons, Brothers, Son-in-laws or Uncles we honor them in June. This is not a complicated month to put together.

Stamp Sets:    Thoughts of Father

                               Itty-Bitty Buds

Inks:                   Basic Black

                               Baja Breeze

Paper:                Whisper White (8-1/2″x8-1/2″)  not needed if using the back of May

                               Basic Grey CS  (8″ x 8″)

                               Baja Breeze CS (7″ x 2-1/4″)

                               Basic Black CS scrap

Accessories:    Watercolor Pencils, Basic Black, 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon, 5 Silver Brads, Photo Corner Punch,  Glue Dots

On the Baja Breeze Card Stock I stamped a geometric looking flower from the Itty-Bitty stamp set. The geometric flower isn’t too feminine and just looks like a background once stamped. Then on the scrap piece of Whisper White Card Stock I stamped in Basic Black the car from Thoughts of Father. I colored the image in using Watercolor Pencils and cut it out. I put the Baja Breeze and calendar together, wrapped a 9″ piece of the Basic Black Ribbon around the seam using Glue Dots  and with another 3″ piece of ribbon I tied a knot. To the corners I added four Photo Corners and four brads. Using Snail adhesive I adhered the car in the center of the Baja Breeze. To May 21, “Father’s Day”, on the calendar, I stamped a small compass I had but, anything manly will do!

May Calendar: “Bloomin’ with Flowers”…

For May of course I did May Flowers. Again I ripped some scraps of DSP to make dirt and grass. I think ripped paper adds a certain dimension.

Stamp Sets:          Bloomin’ with Love

                                    Dear Friend

Ink:                           Basic Black

Paper:                     Whisper White (8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″) and ( 7″ x 2-1/4″)

                                    Almost Amethyst ( 8″ x 8″)

So Saffron scraps for photo corners

Chocolate Chip and Certainly Celery DSP scraps

Accessories:        Brads, Water-Color Pencils, Photo Corner Punch

Using the Dear Friend flowers I stamped them in Basic Black to either side of the Whisper White 7″ x 2-1/4″ strip of card stock. In the middle I stamped in Basic Black the wheelbarrow from Bloomin’ with Love and added flowers inside of it With Watercolor Pencils I colored everything in. then I ripped some Chocolate Chip and Certainly Celery DSP to resemble dirt and grass and adhered it to the bottom. I placed a brad on the wheel of the wheelbarrow. I punched out four sets of the Photo Corners in So Saffron so all the corners were the same size. Then I assembled all the pieces as shown, colored in the sky and stamped the flower pot on, May 10, “Mother’s Day.”

April Calendar: “Birdies & Eggs”…

April’s calendar is above and was great fun to make. The Easter /Spring Eggs worked nicely with the birds. representing not only Easter but all the rebirth that happens in Spring!

                                  A Little Birdie Told Me

                                  Chocolate Chip

                                  Tempting Turquoise

                                  Orchid Opulence

                                  Pixie Pink

Paper:                   Whisper White Card Stock  (8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″) not needed if using the back of March and (7″ x 2-1/4″) plus scraps for flower and bird images

                                  Pixie Pink Card Stock (8″ x 8″) and (7″ x 1/8″)

                                  Yo-Yo Yellow Card Stock scraps

Accessories:      Photo Corner Punch, Dimensionals

I first tore the Chocolate Chip DSP to resemble a small mound or hill and adhered it to the right bottom corner on the Whisper White Card Stock measuring 7″ x 2-1/4″. Using Green Galore I stamped one bird on Whisper White, The other bird I stamped in Tempting Turquoise. The eggs were stamped in Pixie Pink and the flowers in Orchid Opulence and the leaves in Green Galore. Then I cut out all images. Next I stamped on the Whisper White 7″ x 2-1/4″ piece the branch in Chocolate Chip and added the leaves in Green Galore. The umbrella is stamped in Tempting Turquoise. I punched out two sets of the photo corners in Yo-Yo Yellow. I assembled all the pieces as shown above, adhering the birds with dimensionals.

Bashful Blue Card Stock scrap for bird images

I tore the Certainly Celery DSP to resemble  grass or a hill, adhered it to the Whisper White Card Stock and stamped several flowers on the hill and background. I used markers to color in the flowers.  Then I stamped the two birds in Basic Black on Bashful Blue Card Stock and cut them out. Using the Heart to Heart Punch I cut nine small hearts out of various sheets of Certainly Celery DSP. I used three hearts to create the shamrocks and placed a brad in the middle of each. I put all the pieces together as shown above. I used Dimensionals for the birds.

I then put everything together as shown above.

January Calendar: Dreamy Skaters…

This is a class I offered in January and I’m just getting around to posting it. Back in January when all calendars were on sale, I purchased some with this stamping project in mind. I had the hangers and decided to use them on this continuing calendar class. Every month we make the nexy two month’s calendars. Each calendar shares one sheet of card stock; one month appears on the front and another month appears on the back.  Here’s January’s calendar.

January 2009

Stamp Sets:           To You and Yours

Party Hearty (New Year’s Day Hat)

                                 Season of Friendship (Snowflake)

                                 Winter Post

Ink:                         Baja Breeze

                                 Chocolate Chip

                                 Versa Mark

Paper                      Whisper White (8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″) and  (7″ x 2-1/4″)

                                 Baja Breeze (7″ x 2-1/4″)

                                 Chocolate Chip (8″ x 8″)

Accessories:          White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Dazzling Diamonds, Photo Corner Punch

Depending on the size of the calendar you are using you need to cut all your papers accordingly . I my case I trimmed my calendar  to 5″ x 7″ and planned all my layers around that measurement. Since I was hanging my calendar pages on a hanger, I wasn’t constricted to a frame size.

I stamped the house and snowflakes in VersaMark, covered them with white embossing powder and heated them.

Then I tore the strip of Whisper White to resemble a snow covered hill.

I adhered the Whisper White to the Baja Breeze.

Using the Two Way Glue I dabbed streaks on the hill and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds.

After stamping the skaters on a scrap piece of Whisper White I cut them out and I placed them on the hill using Dimensionals.

I then stamped the deer  directly onto the hill.

I Photo cut two corners out of Baja Breeze and assembled the calendar as shown.
