bunch-of-blossoms-header

Two great stampe sets were used here for this card; Bunch of Blossoms and Jar of Love. Both stamp sets are so versatile and can be used in many different ways,

bunch-of-blossoms-card

CARD STOCK.  PAPER & CUTTING DIMENSIONS:

Smokey Slate 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″

Whisper White 4″ x 5-1/4″ and 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ plus a scrap piece for stamping flowers

Playful Palette DSP 3-1/2″ x 1″

Flirty Flamingo 3-3/4″ x 5″

Irresistibly Floral Specility Paper 5″ x 3″ for stamping jar

STAMPING:

  • On the piece of Irresistibly Paper stamp the jar from the Jar of Love stamp set on Basic Gray Ink.
  • On the back pf the stamped jar take a Dauber and Pool Party Ink and sponge over the Irresistibly Paper to look like water in the jar. This paper has a white-on-white design that shows up when paper is inked.
  • On the scrap piece of Whisper White Card Stock stamp the flower from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set. The Bunch of Blossoms Stamp Set and coordinating ` makes stamping and punching easy.  The Bunch of Blossoms stamp set is a fun two-step photopolymer set, which makes for quick and easy stamp placement.  The flowers were stamped in Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride, You’ll want to stamp three.
  •  The stems were stamped in Wild Wasabi right on the 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ Whisper White piece of card stock. Placement is important, becasue you want to be able to have the stems coming out of the jar with enough room for the flower heads on top.
  • Stamp “Hello” in Calypso Coral Ink on a scrap of Whisper White and cut it out with a small label punch

bunch-of-blossoms-detail

Blooming with Kindness: Triple Time Technique

blooming-with-kindness-header

Today I am sharing a technique called Triple Time Stamping. It looks very impressive and complicated, but it goes together very quickly. It’s also a lot of fun! This card starts with varying sizes of Whisper White or Very Vanilla and a colored card stock of choice. I used Very Vanilla and Elegant Eggplant.

blooming-with-kindness

The cutting dimensions are as follows:

Elegant Eggplant: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ Card Base

Very Vanilla: 4 x 5-1/4″

Elegant Eggplant: 3-1/4 x 4-1/2″

Very Vanilla: 3 x 4-1/4″

Elegant Eggplant: 2-1/4 x 3-1/2″

Very Vanilla: 2 x 3-1/4″

These layers are not adhered yet,

Layer the three pieces of Very Vanilla card stock on top of each other using a removable adhesive to hold the layers in place. The adhesive should go on the back. Stack the layers so that the smallest is on the top and so the layers stay in place when you stamp over them. Stamp your image(s) over all three layer at the same time.

Make sure you stamp the images on all three layers of Vary Vanilla. For this card, I stamped the Warmest Wishes sentiment first in Pool Party Ink on the smallest Very Vanilla layer and then stamped the flowers around it in Elegant Eggplant. Both the sentiment and the flowers are from the Blooming With Kindness stamp set.

Once you’re happy with your stamping, separate the Very Vanilla layers and adhere them to the corresponding Elegant Eggplant layers.

And the Triple Time Technique is that fun and easy!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin’ Up!: Sitting Here Birthday

Sitting Here Header

This is one of my favorite new Stampin’ Up! stamp sets called, Sitting Here. It’s a versatile set and portrays lazy comfortable images, including a swing with cozy pillows.  The stamp set comes with a swing, but I changed it to a bench and even used part of the swing for a shelf. I’m even playing around using one of the pillow images as floor tile!  The possibilities are truly endless with this Sitting Here stamp set. And, don’t you just love the new Stampin’ Up! 2016-18 In-Color Flirty Flamingo??

Sitting Here Card 1

Let’s get started:

Card Stock & Cutting Dimensions:

  1. Basic Gray (121044): 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
  2. Flirty Flamingo (141416): 5″ x 3-3/4″ and 2″ x 2″ (for stamping)
  3. Whisper White (100730): 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ and 4″ x 3″ (for stamping)
  4.  Soft Suede (115318): 3″ x 3″ (for stamping)

Stamping:

  1.  Ink up the “Happy Birthday” greeting from the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set (138813) in Flirty Flamingo Ink (141397) and stamp it on the larger Whisper White layer in the upper left hand corner.
  2. Ink up the round and square pillow images from the Sitting Here Stamp Set (141589) with Basic Gray Ink (140932) and stamp it on the Flirty Flamingo (141416)
  3.  Ink up the swings seat in Basic Gray and stamp it on the smaller Whisper White piece.
  4.  Ink up the swing again and this time stamp only bottom wooden rail on to the Whisper White.
  5.  Ink up the cat in Basic Gray and stamp the cat on the Whisper White as well.
  6.  Ink up the flowers and flower pot image with Emerald Envy Ink (141396) and stamp two on the Whisper White.
  7. Ink up the dog, basket and the bottom swing rail in Chocolate Chip Ink and stamp the images on the piece of Soft Suede.

Sitting Here Bench Detail

Cutting, Coloring & Embellishing:

  1.  Carefully cut out the two flower pots, the two pillows, the dog, the cat and the basket.
  2.  Color in the flowers.
  3. Place a small Silver Brad (just retired) or pearl in the center of the round pillow.
  4.  Cut out the swing and cut off the swing’s ropes. Cut the bottom rail on the second swing and cut two small pieces and adhere as the bench legs.
  5. Cut out the Soft Suede swing bottom rail to use as the shelf. One end will need to be cut and shortened depending on how and where you use it.

Sitting Here Cat Detail

Piecing It All Together:

You can place the images any way you find pleasing. Play around with all the pieces and adhere them to the top Whisper White layer but first…

  1. Adhere the layers a shown.
  2. You can place the dog or cat in the basket. I chose to cut a slit in the basket and slipped in one of the flower pots. The cat looked cute on the shelf and the dog looked comfy on the top curve of the bench too.

Here’s to sitting on our back decks, our front porches and our sun-rooms being as comfy, cozy and lazy on the soon to come “Dog Days of Summer!”

Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Bouquet & The Hexagon Hive Die

Birthday Bouquet Header

Today’s post is dedicated to all of you who have bought the Hexagon Hive Thinlit and asked me how to use it beyond stamping. This card we made at my class and everyone was happy to see a new way to use this thinlit. It’s a simple technique and the results are stunning. See if you don’t agree?

Birthday Bouquet Card

CARD STOCK & CUTTING DIMENSIONS:

  1. The card base of Mint Macaron was cut at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″
  2. Whisper White- 5-1/4″ x 4″
  3. Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper- 5-1/4″ x 4″
  4. Blushing Bride- 8-1/2″ x 2-3/4″ (for stamping)

STAMPING:

  1. On the piece of Blushing Bride, stamp four flowers from the  Petite Petals stamp set in Mossy Meadow Ink. Leave room for the “Happy Birthday” message.
  2. On the other end of the Blushing Bride, stamp the “Happy Birthday” message from the Rose Wonder stamp set in Mossy Meadow.
  3. Using Mossy Meadow Ink again, stamp the label outline from the Rose Wonder stamp set over the “Happy Birthday” message. Make sure the message is in the middle of the label. Since this is a photopolymer stamp set the lining up is a cinch.

Birthday Bouquet Birthday

PUNCHES & DIES, Oh, My:

  1. With the Petite Petals Punch, punch out the four stamped petite flowers. Scrunch them up a bit.
  2. Using the BIG Shot and the label die from the Rose Garden Thinlit set, cut out the “Happy Birthday”  label.
  3. Run the piece of Whisper White card stock through the BIG Shot with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER:

  1. Adhere the Hexagon Hive cut out over the piece of the Birthday Bouquet DSP.  Guess what I used to adhere these together?? Yep, Multi-Purpose Glue!
  2. Attach these two layers to the card base.
  3. Attach the “Happy Birthday” label with Dimensionals in a place that’s pleasing to you.
  4. With dabs of glue or Glue Dots attach the Blushing Bride flowers.
  5. Add some bling using Rhinestones or Pearls.

Birthday Boquet Detail

3D Style Button "Tips"

My tip to you is to try and leave some of the solid honeycombs showing to break up the busy areas. The white gives your eyes a break from the busy background pattern and can actually pop the background more, because of the break there’s a greater contrast.

Try this technique using different Designer Series Papers, stamped backgrounds and holiday images.

Remember to make what you love and love what you make.

Craft on!

Embrace the day,

Bloomin’ Love: Birthday Card

Bloomin' Love HeaderHere’s a card that can be made for a birthday celebration or switch out the saying and use it for Valentine’s Day! The new Bloomin’ Heart Thinilts makes it so very easy to make this beautiful and intricate heart cut out. I love this Bloomin’ Love and Bloomin Heart bundle. You can do so much with how you add the die cut flowers. The Bloomin’ Heart cut out and be hand-colored with markers or colored pencils. I chose to stamp and die cut the flowers for this card.

Bloomin Love Card

CARD STOCK and CUTTING DIMENSIONS:

  • The base of this card is a 7″ x 10″  piece of Whisper White scored at 5″
  • The first layer of Blushing Bride is cut at 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″
  • The top Whisper White layer is 4″ x 6″

STAMPING and BIG SHOT:

On a scrap piece of Whisper White, stamp the flowers from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set in Rose Red Ink. There are four different flowers; one large outline flower, one small outline flower, one large solid flower and one small solid flower. The phto shows more than what I used, because I stamped and die cut some for my class. Having one BIG Shot would take a long time for each attendee to cut what they needed. All in all I cut and used about three of each flower. You can cut more if you’d like. Take a look below:

  • Here are the flowers stamped and ready to go through the BIG Shot

Bloomin Love Stamped Flowers

  • What I love about this stamp and die bundle is that the stamps have a little tab on them as well as the dies. This makes is fairly easy to line up the die with your stamped images.  You can also see the stamped dot in the middle of the flower, which also aids in the line-up.

Bloomin Love Framelit

Bloomin Love Cut Flowers

  • Once all my flowers were stamped and cut, I ran the top layer of Whisper White through the BIG Shot with the Bloomin’ Heart die. I placed  it fairly close to the top making sure I had room for the  greeting, which was stamped in Rose Red Ink. The “Happiest of Birthdays to You” is from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.

Birthday Blooms Birthday Greetings

ATTACHING THE FLOWERS:

If you look closely at the cut out heart you’ll notice several white solid flower shaped areas. These areas are for the stamped and cut out flower images, but before you glue on the flowers look again and you can see negative cut out flower shapes as well.

  • For these negative shapes, I glued the solid stamped flowers on from the back with Multi-Purpose Glue. It seems like I’m the only one who loves this glue as the class reminded me! You need to take care that the flower doesn’t go beyond the die cut area.
  • I then placed the die cut heart shape into the area it was cut from
  • Then I adhered the outline flowers on the front.

Bloomin Love Heart Detail

  •  I used Multi-Purpose Glue to attach this layer to the Blushing Bride layer.
  • Once I knew it was safe and the glue had dried, I adhered the two attached layers to the card base.
  • I also added some Basic Rhinestones to the flowers after I took the photo. Make sure to add some to yours.

I hope this tutorial is clear. Look for more ideas using this fabulous Bloomin’ Love and Bloomin’ Heart bundle in the near future.

Honeycomb Happiness: Slider Card

Honeycomb Happiness HeaderThis adorable Honeycomb Happiness stamp set is one of the FREE Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration items you can earn. Paired with the Honeycomb Embellishments in the new Occasions Catalog the projects you can make are just too stinkin’ cute! And, if you haven’t made a slider card yet, give one a try. The possibilities are endless for what you choose to have slide.

Honeycomb Happiness 1

Honeycomb Happiness 2

Did you notice the chick slid across the card? This slider card is amazing to send to people and if you haven’t tried making one of these, here’s your chance to learn how…

1.  CARD STOCK & DIMENSIONS:

  • First, cut a card base of 8-1/2″ x 11″ Daffodil Delight and score it at 4-1/4″
  • Cut a 5″ x 3-3/4″ of Whisper White  for the next layer
  • Out of Tempting Turquoise cut a 4-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ piece

2. MAKING THE SLIDER:

Gather two pennies.

Honeycomb Happiness Slider Card 1

Place two Dimensionals on one of the pennies.

Honeycomb Happiness Slider Card 2

The two pennies were then stuck together. I used two of Stampin’ Up!’s Dimensionals, because you need the adhesive thick enough to leave a space between the pennies, so they can slide along the slot opening,

Honeycomb Happiness Slider Card 3

Next, take the Tempting Turquoise layer, and with the Word Window Punch, punch a slot for your pennies to slide on. You can make it as long as you want by moving, lining up the punch and punching until you reached the length you want.

Honeycomb Happiness Slider Card 4

Next, slip the adhered and stacked pennies into the slot and slide them back and forth a bit to make sure they move freely. If not make any adjustments now. Remove the pennies.

Honeycomb Happiness Slider Card 5

Decide what you want to embellish your card with and what image you want to slide. For this card I stamped the chick and balloon from the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set in Memento Black Ink and colored in the chick with colored pencils. The chick and balloon were then cut out. This is where you can really use your imagination and add whatever you want to your penny slider.

3. PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER:

Honeycomb Happiness

  • Stamp a sentiment on the Tempting Turquoise on your top layer. I stamped “celebrate” from the Good Greetings stamp set in Memento Ink. For some balance , after stamping, I used the Word Window Punch again, to punch out the sentiment.
  • Attach the balloon to the chick and attach the chick to the pennies using a few Glue Dots.
  • Attach a Honeycomb Embellishment to the top part of the balloon. Set aside.
  • On the back of the Tempting Turquoise layer, add Dimensionals across the top, bottom and sides. Add Dimensionals, two high, around the slot opening taking care not to place them too close to the opening. If they’re too close they will obstruct the sliding action.
  • Once the Tempting Turquoise layer is adhered, add a border of thick baker’s twine. Attach it with Multi-Purpose Glue.
  • Attach the “celebrate” sentiment.
  • Add some Enameled Dots as shown and slide your pennies with the attached image into the slot.

If you have any questions or comments about this project EMAIL ME or leave a comment below. And. make sure you don’t miss out on earning this FREE stamp set during Sale-A-Bration!, It’s perfect for Easter and Spring too!

Craft on!
