Daydream Medallions: Valentine’s Day Ornament

I just love the Stampin’ Up!’s Daydream Medallions Stamp Set!  When paired up with the Floral Frames, anything isStampin Up Daydream Medallions, Lakeside Stamper Daydream Medallions Valentine's Day Ornament possible.

This is a Valentine’s Day Ornament made using the Daydream Medallions, Mixed Medley stamp sets and the Floral Frames.

Here’s what to do to make your very own Valentine’s Day Ornament:

On a 5-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Real Red Card Stock stamp the largest medallion in VersaMark Ink.  Sprinkle the VersaMark with White Embossing Powder and heat it with a Heat Tool. When dry, run the stamped image through the BIG Shot with the largest die from the Floral Frames.  Run another piece of Real Red through the BIG Shot using the same die. This piece doesn’t need to be stamped or embossed, because this will be the back piece that hold the ribbon hanger.

STampin Up Daydream Medallions, Lakeside Stamper Dayream Medallions Valentines Day OrnamentOn a 4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White Card Stock, stamp the next to the largest medallion in either Primrose Petals or Real Red.  Either color works. I used Primrose Petals and it looks a little softer then the Real Red. Run this piece through the BIG Shot with the appropriate die.

On a scrap of Real Red Card Stock, stamp the heart circle and greeting from the Mixed Medley stamp Set in VersaMark and emboss with White Embossing Powder.  Use the 3/4″ and 1-1/4″ Circle Punches to punch out the images.

Cut a 12″ piece of 5/8″ Satin Ribbon for hanger.  Go to your local craft store and pick up some 1/2″ plastic rings. They’re usually in the yarn section and come in various sizes in a bag. Thread the ribbon through the plastic ring and stop at the ribbon’s halfway point. Fish tail the opposite ends of the ribbon.

Start putting the ornament together by adhering the two large Real Red pieces, placing the ribbon in between the layers.   I used Sticky Tape. Then keep layering using Dimensionals.  On the tips of the large medallion place a Basic Pearl.

This Valentine Ornament can be made for all the holidays by simply changing the colors and greeting.

Tool Tip Tuesday: Taming Unruly Ribbon

Here’s a simple tip for taming all that unruly ribbon.  This tip won’t cost you a cent and works very well.

All you need to do is make a slit on the cardboard disc the ribbon is wound in.

Tool Tip RibbonTool Tip Ribbon

I make a slit  with my Paper Snips and slip the ribbon end through the slit. (Say that three times fast)   This works every time! It doesn’t matter where the end of your ribbon is, because the cardboard disc rotates around. Just move the slit where needed. Nothing could be easier!

Just helping you get organized!

Stampin’ Up!: Moving Forward Birthday Card

Stampin' Up! Moving Forward, Lakeside Stamper Moving Forward

This card share was made at my last workshop using the Stampin’ Up! Moving Forward Stamp Set.  This card has a little twist in that we stamped the bicycle image and cut part of it out, so it would fit comfortably in the Hearts A Flutter heart. You’ll see what I mean…

STampin' Up! Moving Forward, Lakeside Stamper Moving Forward

Let’s get started:

Cut the following card stock sizes:

Very Vanilla at 10″ x 7″ and score it at 5, 4″ x 6″, 2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″

Certainly Celery at 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ and 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″

Gumball Green at 3″ x 3″

Stampin Up Moving Forward, Lakeside Stamper Moving forward

On the 2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″ piece of Very Vanilla, stamp the bicycle image form the Moving Forward stamp set In Primrose Petals Ink. Stamp the flower image from the same stamp set in Marina Mist Ink. Take a craft knife and on a cutting mat, carefully cut out the bicycle’s big front wheel. Cut about half way around. This part of the wheel, will stick out over the edge of the Hearts A Flutter heart cut out.

Stampin Up Moving Forward

Which leads me to the cutting of the heart.  Take the piece of Gumball Green and place the scallop heart die from the Hearts A Flutter Framelits in the center and run it through the BIG Shot.  For this card we used the negative cut. Save the Gumball Green heart for another project or you can even adhere it to the inside of the card. Place some SNAIL Adhesive along the front edge of the stamped Very Vanilla piece. Tuck the cut part of the wheel to the front of the heart and stick the two pieces of card stock together. You may have to cut a bit off the edge of the Very Vanilla. Then layer these two pieces onto the 3-1/4′ x 3-1/4″ piece of Certainly Celery card stock.

Now on the bottom of the 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla stamp the flowers in Primrose Petals Ink. Make sure you’ve cleaned your stamp after using the Marina Mist! Experience is speaking here. Just sayin’!

Layer the bicycle stamped piece onto the Very Vanilla using Dimensionals,  then cut a 5″ piece of 3/8″ Satin Stitched Gumball Green Ribbon and wrap it around this layer of Very Vanilla.  Layer the rest of the card as shown adding a greeting, knot and Basic Rhinestones and Pearls.

If you want to make a difference, make sure to purchase the Moving Forward Stamp Set and Stampin’ Up! will donate $3.00 for each stamp set sold to the Ronald McDonald House. Get a great stamp set, while donating to a great cause..

Stampin’ Up!: Hearts a Flutter

WARNING: This project could be addictive!!!

STampin Up Hearts A Flutter, Lakeside Stamper Valentines Day Card

Do you or you children want to pass out a little different kind of Valentine’s Day card this year? Well here’s the perfect project which serves two purposes; a card and a valentine’s treat!!  These can be made for any holiday or as birthday party favors by simply changing the color of the card stock you use.

Let’s Get Started!

Cut a:

4-3/8 x 3-1/4″ piece of Real Red Card Stock and score it along the 4-3/8″ edge at 1-7/8″ and 2-1/2″

and

a 1-5/8″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White Card Stock

You’ll also need a 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ of Real Red and a few scraps of Whisper White

Stampin Up Hearts a Flutter Valentine Card, Lakeside Stamper Valentine Day CardOnce your Real Red is cut and scored, punch out a 1-1/4″ Circle out of a piece of any scrap card stock or paper. I used a piece of Whisper White.  Adhere the circle to the front of the Real Red with Dotto or repositionable adhesive. Use the circle as a guide to punch your hole.  Line up your punch with the white circle and punch through the Real Red front. Adhere your 1-5/8″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White to the front, covering the punched hole opening. Now turn the card and from the inside, line up your punch with the opening and punch again. You need to punch the hole in this manner, because the punch won’t do two thicknesses of card stock at once.

STampin Up! Hearts A Flutter, Lakeside STamper Valentine Hearts a FlutterTake the 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Real Red and run it through the BIG Shot with the Hearts A Flutter Framelits using the scallop heart die. Once cut take a Paper Piercing Tool and pierce a hole in each of the heart scallops. On a scrap of Whisper White,  stamp the “For You” and the heart circle from the Mixed Medley Stamp Set in Real Red Ink With the 3/4″ and 1-1/4″ Circle Punches, punch out stamped images.

Place some Sticky Tape on the back of a Cherry flavored Tic-Tac box and stick it on the inside back of the card so the candy part shows through the hole opening. Cut a 12″ piece of 1/8″ Taffeta Real Red Ribbon and wrap it around the card and Tic-Tac box and tie a bow on the side. Adhere the heart over the ribbon and in the center of the heart, with Dimensionals, place the stamped images.

I certainly hope you get to make a few dozen or so of these! Don’t forget to place an online or EMAIL ME your order during Sale-A-Bration from January 22- March 31, 2013. For every $50.00 you spend, before shipping and taxes, you earn a FREE item from the Stampin’Up! Sale-A-Bration catalog. As ever, I’m here for you.

Stampin’Up!: Blooming with Love Birthday Card

Hello Lakeside Stamper friends!

Today I’d like to share with you a birthday card made with the Blooming with Kindness Stamp Set

Stampin'Up! Blooming with Kindness Birthday Card, Lakeside Stamper

I mixed Primrose Petals Card Stock with Wisteria Wonder on a Very Vanilla  base. The card base of Very Vanilla was cut at 10″ x 7″ and scored at 5″ for a 5′ x 7″ horizontal card.

STampin'Up! Blooming with Kindness Birthday Card, Lakeside Stamper Another 5″ x 5″ piece of Very Vanilla was cut and on it I stamped the beautiful floral image in Wisteria Wonder. For the stem Gumball Green was dabbed on. The greeting “Warmest Wishes on your Birthday” was inked in Primrose Petals. The 5″ x 5″ piece was then put through the BIG Shot using the next to largest die in the Floral Framelits. The edge was then distressed with a Sponge Dauber and Primrose Petals Ink.

A 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ piece of Wisteria Wonder Card Stock was cut as well as a 2″ x 4-1/2″ of Primrose Petals. These two pieces were then run through the BIG Shot using the Lacey Brocade Embossing Folder. Love this embossing folder.

StampinUp! Blooming with Kindness Birthday Card, Lakeside STamperThese two pieces were then taped together from the back and wrapped in a piece of Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon. On the top of the Very Vanilla a piece of Primrose Petals Satin Stitched Ribbon was layered and wrapped.  Before the bow was made I adhered this layer on the card base. Then a separate bow was made and adhered with a Glue Dot. In the right hand corner three  8mm Large Pearls were added. They work well in the corner, because they bring your eye down to them.

The Very Vanilla Floral Cut out was adhered with Dimensionals and the edge of the card base was sponged with Primrose Petals Ink.

Thanks for stopping by. Please EMAIL ME your questions and I’ll do my best to answer them on my blog or in my newsletter.

Stampin’Up!: Papillon Potpourri Birthday Card

Stampin'Up! Papillon Potpourri and Serene Silhouettes Stamp Set

As I type this, I can hear Jackson crying in the background. Nothing serious, just wanting to be fed again! There’s nothing like having a baby in the house for lifting spirits. Thank you for all your well wishes…

Today. I want to share with you a birthday card back in November. I used the Stampin’Up! Papillon Potpourri and Serene Silhouettes Stamp Sets, which go well together.

Stampin'Up! Papillon and Serene Sihouette

I used  Wisteria Wonder Card Stock and Ink. I stamped the wildflowers in Gumball Green and inked up the flowers in Wisteria Wonder. On a separate sheet of Whisper White Card Stock, I stamped an extra flower, cut it out and over-layed it with a Dimensional. I stamped one of the butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie, cut it out, adhered it and for the butterfly body I placed some Basic Rhinestones.  You gotta love those! I tied a pretty Gumball Green bow with Stampin’Up!’s Stitched Ribbon. In the lower right hand corner I tucked the birthday message from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set.

Happy New Year and Stampin’ Hugs,

Diane Caro, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator
