Merry Christmas One & All!

Dear Lakeside Stamper Friends,

I can’t believe another year has past between us. This year was amazing for my business with all of your new DSC_0360 friendships. I feel truly blessed. Thank you for your loyalty, comments and emails. They mean so very much to me.As I prepare for another exciting new year I will keep all of you in mind.

With that said I’m taking a week or so off from blogging until after the New Year. I want to spend time with my family and friends. I want to bake a little and go to NYC and visit all the magic the city has to offer this time of the year.

As we move forward to 2011 I hope you celebrate each day and may Christmas refresh your spirit and the New Year bring you new inspiration.

Stampin’ Up! Inspiration…

Hi, Lakeside Readers!

I'm sure you're as busy as I am in preparing for Christmas. I wanted to do a quick little post of one of the Lakeside Stamper offerings available in January.

This is a mug my daughter Megan Etched using the truck image from Stampin' Up!'s Countryside Stamp Set. Meg is in the process of making more samples to show and sell beginning in January. It's not too early to start thinking about those Valentine's Day gifts, especially for the men in our lives. I'll keep you posted.

Today is Freddie’s Birthday…

I have been a very busy card-maker. In fact as busy as a bee…

There sure seems to be a lot of December birthdays! Yikes… This card I made for my closest friend Freddie. I just had to use Betsy the bee-keeper because I adore her. This one’s for you Freddie!

               DSC_0334

For this card I used Daffodil Delight and Basic Black Card Stock. On the smaller piece of Daffodil Delight I stamped the flower from Stampin’ Up!’s Just Buzzin’ By Stamp Set in More Mustard Ink then I used my White Gel Pen and colored in the petals of the flowers. I stamped Betsy in Basic Black Ink on a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and water-colored her in with my Aqua Painter, Markers and Pencils. The happy birthday greeting is from the Happy Moments Stamp Set. Once stamped I used two oval punches, one scalloped, as shown. A piece of Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon and Basic Pearls finishes the card off.

Take a closer look at Betsy:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FREDDIE!

As I mentioned in an earlier post I’m internally doing major construction to my blog. I would love for you have your very own gallery page, but, in order to do that I need some photos of your work. Here’s the deal, you send me, attached in an email, any card, scrap-book page or project you have done using all of Stampin’ Up! products. I’ll feature it on a gallery page I’m designing just for your works of art!  Include your name and a title for the featured project. So, get on the band wagon, as they use to say!

Make it a great day!

Stampin’ Hugs,

Today is Janet’s Birthday…

Today is my life long friend & cousin Janet’s birthday.

This is the birthday card I designed for her, I love using my Big Shot. Most of all I love using my Big Shot with Embossig Folders. The embossing is easy to achieve and really can’t be beat for detail. For Janet’s card I used the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder on Very Vanilla and Pear Pizzazz Card Stock. I stamped the images from the Stamp Set Punch Potpourri  in Soft Suede Ink. I used the matching punches to punch out all the images. Each image has a matching punch. How nice is that?. For the embellishments I added lots of Pearls!

Take a look and click on any picture for an enlargement:

A Victorian Ornament for Elaine…

On Sunday my girlfriend Elaine had a group of longtime friends over for a get together and lunch. I organized a small stamping project for the ladies to make and all of them loved it. Some were new to stamping, so, it was nice to get more ladies interested. In January I’m doing a private class for them and I can’t wait!

Of course when you go to someones home you can’t go empty handed. I know how hard Elaine worked on making Sunday special. I’ve know Elaine for just about 20 years and didn’t know what to bring her. I finally decided on this Victorian Ornament, because that’s how Elaine decorates her Christmas Tree. Here are some photos of the ornament. I’ll be offering the directions for this and the other ornament I made at a later date.

Stamped Tile Coasters…

I love this project and so did all who attended my Gift Making Class. These are very easy and inexpensive  to make as gifts and those who receive them will treasure them always.

Here’s how to Stamp a Tile

::

You’ll first need to go to a local home improvement store and look for un-glazed tiles.

When you get them home rinse them with soap and water and dry.

Choose a stamp that fits nicely on the size tile you chose and stamp the image with Stazon Ink. Let the image dry. Once it’s dry I colored the image with Stampin’ Up! pastels.

Along the edges I just used my finger and smudged the color along the edge of the tile. To insure the color will stay on I sprayed each tile lightly with a clear matte finishing spray.

These are so simple to make you’ll be able to make a set for everyone on your gift list!

Card-Making Challenge for a Cause…

Operation+Write Home Logo

Hi, Lakeside Readers!

I'm letting you know in advance about another "Operation Write Home" Challenge I'm doing. I would like, as many of you who can, to participate. This is a cause that is dear to my heart especially, being a card-maker. I just feel that together we can show our troops in our own way we support them

Operation Write Home is an organization that helps our heroes keep in touch with home. The mission is to show support for our nation's armed force by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on. In addition to blank cards for the troops to send home a note of gratitude from you to them is always welcomed. As of December 6, 2010, 734,026 cards have been sent to deployed heroes!

Your other option is to make and send cards on your own. Before you do please go the their website operationwritehome.org and get the addresses where you can mail your cards. Please read the tips section, card deadlines and requirements such as NO GLITTER and the best size to make is a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card to fit into an A-2 envelope before you make or send any cards.

Now for the challenge. According to my stat counter, not the one on my blog, I have over 26,000 visits from all of you. So, I would like everyone of you to participate in the following challenge.

OPERATION WRITE HOME CARD CHALLENGE
Make and send a card(s) for the soldiers to send to their loved ones & you can win $50.00 Stampin' Up! gift certificate.  One entry per card (so, if you mail 20 cards you'll be entered 20 times) and at the end of the challenge a random name will be chosen and the winner will be posted on my blog. All the cards I receive will also be posted along with your name.

Start Date  December 10, 2010
End Date    January 31, 2011
http Location : lakesidestamper.com

Contact Name: Diane Callahan-Caro
Contact Phone: 914 621-7522
Mail Cards to:  1646 Wenonah Trail
                     Mohegan Lake, New York 10547

This Operation Write Home card challenge is a way for our fine soldiers to keep in touch with their families and loved ones. It is simple. You make a card, leave the inside blank for them to do their writing.

The rules are…

1. Make a card, using all Stampin' Up! Products, A2 size, (5.5" X 4.25"), that is any theme. You can make more than one, make and send as many as you want.

2. NO GLITTER!!! That is the only decoration rule. You can use anything but glitter. It is hazardous to the soldiers as it can flake off and if they have glitter on their uniforms it can put them at risk – it can make them visible to night vision goggles, and that is just not a risk not worth taking!

3. No Handwritten Sentiments. If you don't have a sentiment stamp to so with your card, feel free to let it be a card with no sentiment. Do not hand write sentiments outside or inside the cards.

4. Please leave the inside of the card blank for the soldiers to write their own message to their loved ones.

5. The back of the card needs to be stamped with the Operation Write Home stamp. I have the stamp and will stamp them when I receive them. You can sign the back and add your blog or any info you want be fore sending them to me.

6. Remember all cards need to be received by me by January 31, 2011.

I hope in your own way you can get involved and help out with this small deed to bring smiles to so many hearts. If you think your not up for the challenge,  and I can't believe that, or have the time, you can always send Operation Write Home a donation to help with the postage. What could be nicer then doing what you love and sending it to a hero?

Here's hoping for a record breaking number of cards we send to Operation Write Home!

 Stampin' Hugs to you,
