Simple Stampin’ Festive Favorites…

These are terrific Treat Boxes (#115690 page 159) that can be used for yummy chocolate, hand-made cookies or for Birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Party Favors or as in this case Holiday Gift Boxes.

DSC_0230

I call this another “So Simple Stampin’ Project.”   On Very Vanilla Card Stock I stamped in Chocolate Chip Ink the reindeer from the Festive Favorites Stamp Set.  I hand colored in the reindeer and layered Very Vanilla Card Stock, Real Red Card Stock and another piece of  Very Vanilla Card Stock.

The ribbon I used for the bow is the Ribbon Originals-Mistletoe. For the tag ribbon I simply cut a thin strip of Real Red Card Stock.

Below are gift card holder we also made using the Festive Favorites Stamp Set.  The set originally came with one big block stamp with images of the reindeer, snowmen and Christmas trees together. I had my husband cut the wood block so I could use the images as follows with the gift card holder project. The gift card holders I purchased last year from Stampin’ Up! They are now retired but since I had so many I decided to use them for my class. Here are the examples of the three we made and how nicely the images from the Festive Favorites worked out.

We Welcome “Nathan Tyler” to Our World…

I have joyous news!!! My dear friends Marisa and Todd who lost their 12 year old son, Jonathan a year ago just had a baby boy, Nathan Tyler. Originally, Nathan was due to come, by cesarean, into our world on December 7. I was thrilled because today was my dad's birthday. Then, the cesarean got postponed to December 9. Well, as it turns out the doctor changed the date again this afternoon when Marisa went in for a doctor's visit. I'm thrilled he was born healthy and on my dad's birthday. Here's Nathan:

Catch Me if you Can, I’m the Gingerbread Man…

I think one cookie that screams the holidays is the gingerbread cookie. I have been having so much fun with chipboard cutouts. If you haven’t tried them as of yet you should give them a try. You can easily buy pre-made shapes or cut your own with the Big Shot or scissors. Stampin’ Up! sells pre-cut shapes and On Board Book Basics on pages 184-185 in the Idea Book and Catalog.

DSC_0221

For this gingerbread man I traced a pre-cut gingerbread man chipboard shape onto  Soft Suede Card Stock, cut it out and adhered it to the chipboard. Using the rick-rack stamp from the Trimastic Stamp Set (retired) I stamped it in Versa Mark and embossed it with White Embossing Powder.  Around the edges I sponged Chocolate Chip Ink.

For the:

Candy Buttons: Punch 2 Real Red and 2 Whisper White  3/4″ Circles

After I punched the Whisper White circles I cut little wedges out of them and then I layered them over the Real Red to resemble peppermint candies.

Eyes: Punch 2 Whisper White 1/4″ Circles

Mouth: Punch 1-1/4″ Circle on Whisper White  and  punch a  1/38″ Circle around the opening.

Cheeks: Out of Real Red Card Stock punch two 1/2″ Circles. For the swirls either punch them out with a swirl punch or hand cut swirls and layer them on each Real Red 1/2″ circles.

Collar:  On Whisper White Card Stock punch a 1-3/8″ Circle and around the opening punch a Scallop Circle.  Cut off  two three scallops lengths and adhere them around the gingerbread man’s neck. In the middle glue a brown flower button from  Stampin’ Up  Button Latte collection.

On his forehead I punched a hole and attached the Real Red Grosgrain Double Stitched Ribbon for a hanger.

I put everything together as follows:DSC_0240

On one of the hands I glued using Crystal Effects, a Stampin’ Up Library Clip. In the clip I printed the following gingerbread cookie recipe out, trimmed it down and layered it on a piece of Real Red Card Stock.

GINGERBREAD  COOKIES

6 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 tablespoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon ground cloves

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup shortening, melted & cooled

1 cup molasses

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup water

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. Set aside.

2. In a medium bowl, mix together the shortening, molasses, brown sugar, water, egg and vanilla until smooth. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients, until they are completely absorbed. Divide the dough into 3 pieces, pat down to 1-1/2″ thickness, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate  for three hours.

3. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. On a slightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4″ thickness. cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies onto an un-greased cookie sheet.

4. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. When the cookies are done they will look dry, but still be soft to the touch. Remove from the cookie sheet and cool on wire racks. When cool the cookies can be frosted with icing of your choice.

I sincerely hope you enjoyed this “Yummy” post. As ever thanks for stopping by.

Wine Gift Tag…

This gift tag couldn’t be easier to make and because of that I call it one of  my “Simple Stampin’ Projects.”

DSC_0229

Here is the recipe:

STAMP SETS: Good Cheer

                                                Snowflake Spot

PAPER: Rich Razzleberry Card Stock

                                                7-1/4″ x 3-3/4″ scored at 5-1/4″

                                                Sage Shadow Card Stock  5″ x 3-1/2″

                                                Very Vanilla Card Stock 4-7/8″ x 3-3/8″

Ink:                                       Rich Razzleberry

Accessories:                     Word Punch

                                                 1-3/8″ Circle Punch

                                                Pastels

                                                Dazzling Diamonds,

                      Crystal Effects

                                                Gold BradDSC_0229

For the wine tag I stamped the swag and Santa images from the Good Cheers Stamp Set in Rich Razzleberry Ink on the 4-7/8″ x 3-3/8″ Very Vanilla Card Stock. I colored the images in with my Pastels, then added Dazzling Diamonds and Crystal Effects on the berries which I colored in with a Real Red Marker. I adhered the Very Vanilla Card Stock on the 5″ x 3-1/2″ Sage Shadow Card Stock and around the two I wrapped a Rich Razzleberry Word Punch out and attached it with a Gold Brad.  On the 2″ scored area of the card stock I punched a 1-3/8″ circle out to place over the wine bottle’s neck. Because you now have the measurements for the tag any image can be used in place of the Santa.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wine Glass Charms…

I know these wine charms have been around forever but, it was really nice to see that I could incorporate stamping into making my own. For this project you do need some non Stampin’ Up! supplies but chances are you have them around anyway.  I simply stamped with Craft Ink onto shrink plastic, punched out the image with our regular Stampin’ Up! punches, pierced a small hole for the jump ring and followed directions for the shrink plastic. Viola the charms were formed. I then took earring wires I had and added eight beads on one side then in the center after applying a jump ring to the charms, I strung on the charm and then an additional eight beads. I tried to color coordinate each charm and beads. Have fun with this one and be careful not to get burned with the hot plastic. DSC_0222

The below (backward) charm image is from the Delightful Decorations Stamp Set which was stamped in Real Red Ink and punched using Stampin’ Up! Ornament Punch. I stamped the image on shrink plastic and baked it in the oven according to the manufacturer’s directions. Both stamp set and punch are on pages 24-25 in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

DSC_0225

The wine charm below was stamped in Encore Gold Ink. The image is from the Winter Post Stamp Set page 35 in the Idea Book and Catalog. I then punched it out with the Scallop Circle Punch and baked it.

DSC_0226

The below image is from the Sweet Season Stamp Set stamped in Tempting Turquoise Ink. The stamp set is on page 29 in the Idea Book and Catalog. After stamping the image I used the Scallop Circle Punch to punch it out and baked it.

DSC_0227

Below I stamped the santa from the Christmas Punch Stamp Set in Garden Green Ink. I then used the Scallop Square Punch to punch it out and baked it.

DSC_0228

Once, again, Thanks for stopping by and I sincerely hope you take out time to make some of these projects for you or the special people on your gift list.
